Meghan Gosselin is from Northbridge Ma, and currently studies Early Childhood Education and Psychology at UMass Amherst. She studied abroad in Florence Italy in the spring of 2012, traveling throughout much of Europe. Meghan enjoys traveling, sailing, soccer, outdoor adventures and spending time with her family and friends.

Why did you decide to study abroad with API?

Meghan: I chose to study abroad in the amazing Florence Italy. I wanted to study in a place I had never visited before. I also wanted an authentic city in Europe, which is why I chose Florence and spent the spring semester there. I chose to study with API because they offered a great package deal. API offered a variety of excursions, and events in Florence to get to know other students that were abroad with API. They also offered a great amount of support before and after my experience in Italy. Furthermore my sister had gone to Sevilla Spain with API and had an amazing experience so it wasn't a question, I knew I would go aboard with API.

What made this study abroad experience unique and special?

Meghan: My experience abroad has really opened my mind to what is out there in the world. I became so independent and really grew up in the five months that I was gone. Traveling through Europe for the first time without my parents allowed me to face challenges and try to figure things out on my own, for the first time. In Florence I met some life long friends that share some of the most exciting experiences I?ve ever had.

How has this experience impacted your future?

Meghan: The experience has certainly impacted my future. After studying abroad I have really become interested in international education. I am hoping to get more involved in international education after I graduate college. I am a huge advocate for study abroad and really want to be part of the process and help other college and high school students have the same life changing experience I had.
