I knew I wanted to live in Cusco, so I decided on Trilogia after looking at several different schools in the area. My primary concern was cost, but I also wanted something that would provide a good quality classes and individualized lessons. I also wanted a home stay option to get a full immersion in Peruvian culture and language. Trilogia actually had the best price I found AND, they offered tailored, immersive classes that fit my beginner's level Spanish perfectly. I wanted to explore Cusco, but I wasn't really looking for a social scene, I wanted somewhere I could really get serious about my Spanish.

Why did you decide to study abroad with Trilogia?
What made this study abroad experience unique and special?
I really liked the intimacy of the classes and school in general. My teachers became my friends, and Yesica has remained someone I keep in touch with up to today. Also, it turned out we had several similar interests in holistic living, and she was able to hook me up with yoga classes and delicious vegetarian restaurants locally, which was awesome. Even though there isn't a huge social scene at the school itself, Yesica is more than happy to show you all the best places for dancing and hanging out in the evenings.
What was the best place you visited outside of Cusco?
I really like Pisaq, which is about an hour shared minivan ride outside of Cusco. It's a tiny little village with a nice, challenging hike to the ruins. It's a great day trip, and the market is huge. Also, it's in the Sacred Valley, so it's just a stunning panorama. The people are more laid back than in Cusco, and there are plenty of cafes to sit and eat, think, and write if you so choose. The overall vibe is very peaceful. I looooove Pisaq. Of course, Macchu Picchu was amazing too; I definitely would not miss it. I believe Trilogia can set up the trip.
If you could do-over one thing, what would it be?
II would probably take advantage of Cusco's proximity to other villiges like Urabumba and do a few more day trips. They're mostly included in the tourist ticket, but Trilogia can arrange for trips to any that aren't. I was very tired while I was there and mostly stuck around Cusco, but now I wish I could see more of the countryside. There is plenty that can be done in a weekend, or depending on your class schedule, several sights can be taken in in the afternoons after school. I also think that while I enjoyed staying with a host family, I think if I re-did it, I would not include meals in the package and just fend for myself. My host mom was a great cook, but eating at home meant I had to keep a particular schedule, and sometimes I'd rather have stayed out longer, or come back earlier. The food was very good though.
