Alumni Spotlight: Alexa Fox

The beautiful Newcastle, England!

Why did you decide to study abroad with ISA in Newcastle, England?

Alexa: I chose to study abroad with ISA first because it was one of the only study abroad programs that was offered by my school. I go to a very small school so my choices were limited. Secondly, I chose Newcastle, England because the ISA program did not only summer school but an internship and I was very interested in adding some internship experience to my resume.

What made studying in Newcastle a unique and special experience?

Alexa: This study abroad experience was unique because it wasn't something that many people in my family had done before or one that many people in my school had done so it was nice to do something different. It was special because I am someone who can appreciate all of the things that I learned and experienced over there and I know it meant a lot of my grandma because she also studied in England when she was in college. It was nice to be able to share my experience with her.

How has this experience impacted your future?

Alexa: This experience has impacted my future personally in that I feel more open to new things and more exposed to things around the world. I feel like I can interact with mayn different types of people as well. Professionally, I feel much more confident in my ability find a job after I graduate because my internship experience really helped me decide what career field I wanted to go into. Academically, I feel like I am much more aware of how well I can do on my schoolwork. The grading was much tougher in England and now I've really seen how high my potential is when it comes to my work because I've seen how difficult I can be assessed.
