After studying International Business and Communication in Munich, she caught the opportunity to work abroad. What brought her to London was a deep interest in the English culture and the chance to gain hands-on experience in an exciting job field. Jana was provided a first hand into Digital Marketing and she also had experience in working with different cultures while working at various trade missions. She is able to write, speak and read fluently in German and is proficient in Russian, English and Spanish language.

What position do you hold at Absolute Internship? What has been your career path so far?

Jana: At Absolute Internship I work as a Marketing Associate at the London Office. I try to help our company promote our programs and establish ourselves across Europe and rest of the world.

Before I got the position of Marketing Associate at Absolute Internship, I was working as an intern at an Online Marketing company back in Germany.

I was responsible for submitting linking texts on relevant websites on intern and overall online PR and also had the chance to work on the maintenance of new online shops where I could contribute my creativity skills. Also as fair hostess I was involved in exciting duties. Especially the costumer service as a part of duties was a great experience.

Why is language learning and cultural immersion important to you?

Jana: As I study Business Communication I am aware of difficulties that can appear when you communicate with people of different cultural background. Intercultural communication is an important aspect as well as in your daily life but also at your business life.

To understand the people better and find the best solution, it is important to know the different aspects of their culture and the language. It makes you feel more comfortable and you can avoid any inconveniences. With the cultural knowledge a person appears more confident and more professional.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Jana: My internship back in Germany gave me the chance to test our a variety of roles and allowed me to develop a lot of valuable skills.

It was the most educational experience of my undergraduate degree as it gave me the opportunity to step outside of the classroom and gain first hand experience in professional world.

Working with Absolute Internship has helped me increase my professional confidence that I think is very important in your future career. Also, the experience I gained working with the students and people from professional environment surely gives me an advantage when it comes to showcasing your communication skills.
