Absolute Internship was the best way for me to get comfortable traveling abroad. It gave me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally in ways I never expected. I had an amazing time getting to know people from all around the world, seeing iconic landmarks, and becoming fully immersed in the rich and diverse culture of the United Kingdom. Each day offered something new, from exploring historic sites to trying local cuisine and connecting with people from different backgrounds. I would highly recommend Absolute Internship to anyone who is ready to step outside their comfort zone, try something new, and experience what it truly means to live and work abroad. This experience gave me the confidence to navigate unfamiliar environments, adapt to new situations, and embrace the challenges and joys that come with international living. It’s a journey I’ll cherish forever and a step I’m so glad I took.

Absolute Internship paved the way for my career. I interned abroad two summers in a row, once in Paris and once in London. My second internship really opened new doors for me in my field and I was even brought to Paris to on a business trip where I was able to make life-long references. I am now working at Saint Laurent, a job I wouldn't have been hired for it it weren't for my prior jobs found through Absolute! I am forever grateful for them! I made many friends, memories, and grew into a true adult from the experiences I had.

I had an amazing two months in London interning at a PR agency. I wrote press releases, was part of brain storming sessions and was given a lot of responsibilities. London is such a great city, I was able to visit France, Belgium and Ireland during my summer in Europe. The staff at absolute was very nice and very helpful.
Overall the program was very well organized and I met a lot of people that I still have contact with today and that I call my friends today.

I would without any doubt at all recommend this program with Absolute. The staff was very helpful and supportive from the day I got involved with the program until the day I left London. They were always there if we needed them.

During my two months in London, I learned more about the world than I could ever dream of. Not only through my internship but also through the other people that was in the program. We grew so close to each other during the summer I was there and the experience really opened up my eyes to other cultures. I grew so much personally but also professionally.

I would say this was definitely a worthwhile experience. It’s an investment in your future and your career, but also a fantastic life changing experience you will never forget. Thanks for this summer in London I chose to study abroad in Greece. Traveling and living abroad has really opened up my eyes!

Honestly, I had the greatest experience with Absolute Internship in London this summer. All of the weekend activities were well-organized and fun. They did a great job with organization and made sure that we all took advantage as much as possible of our time in London. The internship I got in the end was amazing (PR) and since London is a massive PR capital it was my dream.
 Overall, a really structured program and I had the best experience. Now I just wanna go back to London and I’m thinking about applying for jobs in the city after I graduate. Highly recommend Absolute Internship!

What do you tell your friends who are thinking about going abroad?

I would tell them to take the opportunity and go! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I absolutely do not regret anything. I've met amazing people from around the world who have inspired me so much.

Additionally, living in such a cultural melting pot has widened my view on the world and I've experienced so many opportunities that wouldn't be possible in Australia. Most importantly, I would recommend that everyone intern abroad as your CV will thank you so much!

The Australian graduate market is increasingly competitive and an internship automatically places you above other people and this can only be a good thing.

What was the hardest part about going abroad?

The hardest part of going overseas is leaving my family and friends for 2 months. This was my 1st time overseas without my family and it honestly didn't sink in till I arrived.

Although I felt nervous and home sick at the start, these feelings almost disappeared instantly as the Absolute staff, other interns and my supervisors made me feel at ease in England. In fact, I almost forgot how much I missed home in a few weeks as I was so busy learning and enjoying the London life!

Although you miss home, there are so many means of contacting friends and family back home thanks to the Internet and social media. And being away from home for 2 months makes you realize how important and special your friends and family back home are!

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

My one piece of advice would is be ready to learn, adapt and embrace the internship and the country. Being adaptable to change is an amazing quality and it makes your time overseas instantly better! Make use of your internship and learn as much as possible. Embrace your internship city and experience everything that the city has to offer.

Go out every night as you'll never know when you'll be back in that city. Having the above quality makes your internship period an experience you'll never forget. Lastly, I would recommend bringing the appropriate clothing for overseas.

I went to London in winter and I didn't bring enough warm clothing and got sick for 1.5 months! So make sure you stay healthy.

Carla is the General Manager for Europe at Absolute Internship. She has joined the Absolute Team after spending five years in Beijing and Shanghai. What brought her to China was a deep interest in Chinese Language and Culture, in which she graduated in the Foreign Language and Culture University of Turin, in Italy. In China, she combined the studies with working experience in an Italian consulting firm and in a leading Advertising Agency, specialized in serving international luxury brands.

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

I personally spent 4 years living in Shanghai and I feel the majority of people is not aware of how amazing China is.
Because of their role in the economy and their incredible history and tradition, I feel that people should have a better understanding of China. It has so much to offer and is developing so quickly that I genuinely think is the place-to-be for students!

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

In my opinion is to believe that what you do has a purpose, that you are doing something meaningful and that has a positive impact on people's life. This is what motivates the whole team and that makes us successful.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

I believe Absolute Internship is unique because of the passion and care that each team member has for the job. We value each student, we go above and beyond. This is also due to the fact that we are a very international team and each one of us is still facing the challenges of living abroad, we totally understand how a student is feeling when planning to join one of our international programs.

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of your current team.

If I should pick a time I would say at the end of the past summer program in London when I realized that all the students - a very high number - had an amazing time and were grateful for our efforts and ongoing support. Generally whenever a student tells me the program has been the best time of her/his life and that has changed her/him deeply on a personal and professional level, I feel proud and satisfied.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favorite story is the one of a British student who decided to join the program after meeting me at a Career fair. At the time he was a First Year student, never been abroad and decided to join our Hong Kong program. He was lacking of self-confidence and not aware of what to expect there. Because of his positive mindset and great personality, he enjoyed the program and grown so much, that he decided to go back to Asia for one more year! We are still in touch and I am sure he has a bright future ahead!
