What is your favorite travel memory?
Two years ago I went on a cruise to the Caribbean. The ship had few stops: Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Cozumel (Mexican island). I would say that Cozumel was my favorite place because we managed to do a lot in the 8 hours that we were there. We rented a scooter and went around the entire island. On our way we stopped at the Mayan ruins, we went to a tequila factory and of course the beach.
Our last stop was a garage, which was turned into a restaurant. We were alone in the restaurant and were served truly Mexican food. I believed that in the few hours I had managed to experience at least a bit of the Mexican culture.
Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?
I would say that Costa Brava (north of Barcelona, Spain) is most underrated. I went there few times and there are some amazing, lonely beaches and the nature is amazing. The sea is crystal clear and the beaches are full of white sand. It is beautiful to drive around, especially on a motorcycle.
There are some cities in Costa Brava that are overrated. For example, Lloret del Mar or Tossa del Mar, have lost their beauty as they are full of tourists. They are no longer small beach towns, as the locals leave during the season and foreigners take over.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
I would say that we are very successful because we understand our market. Few of our team members, including myself, are young and fresh out of college. Therefore, we know what the students are looking for, what concerns they have and what their needs are. I have personally went abroad, not for an internship, but for study exchange, so I know what concerns I had and how worried my parents were.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
Intern-Tech had provided me with the opportunity to attend the NAFSA Conference in Colorado this year. It was an amazing opportunity since it was not only the first time that I attended such conference, but I also had a booth to take care of. It taught me about networking and about managing my time at such global event.
What unique qualities does your company possess?
I would say that Intern-Tech possesses a key quality that not all internship providers have. We truly care about the development of the students. This is evident from the very beginning, as we exclusively attend each student and assist them in any way possible ensuring that the experience is as beneficial as possible. Once the students arrive, we provide them with career development workshops to maximize the professional experience.
