What is your favorite travel memory?

Traveling around rural Myanmar on an electric scooter. Getting enthralled in the culture, the magic, the uninterrupted beauty that makes it so unique. Visiting temple after temple off the beaten path, and watching the sunset with Buddhist monks. Being able to learn a new culture in such a unique setting was amazing.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Developed the unwavering belief that even a small effort can bring about big change. Having lived on several continents, I appreciate the unique attributes that drive people to want to make the world a better place. It's in our daily acts that we can make a big difference. I now believe that life starts at the edge of your comfort zone.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

That their journey started once they got on the plane to return to their home country of America. Prior to African Impact, they were unaware of the opportunities available through stepping out of their comfort zone. They have since changed their career trajectory and ended up in a completely different field and are absolutely thriving.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

It would definitely be Zanzibar Marine Conservation as I believe without creating ethical tours and building/empowering the tourism industry - we won't be able to achieve a harmony between humans and marine life. The work that African Impact does on the ground empowers people of today to create a better tomorrow.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Passion for creating extraordinary responsible travel experience, coupled with making a measurable impact on the continent of Africa. Everyone at African Impact aspires to uplift community livelihoods and conservation efforts throughout Africa while ensuring the work on the ground gives a hand up not a handout.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Creating a culture where people are passionate and empowered to innovate and change the game. Change is never easy but when people recalibrate and create a positive and innovative culture, the boundaries are lifted as to what the individuals and collective organisation can achieve. African Impact has what it takes to be a change-maker in the responsible travel industry.
