Interview

What is your favorite travel memory?

That is truly impossible to answer, only for the reason that there are so many.. I have been lucky enough to have experiences that has moved me to my very core. met people who have changed me and my view on life. Seeing beautiful places such as New Zealand, Nepal and Tanzania has made my cry and has given me more everlasting, mental images than a person can ask for in a lifetime. Making friendships that after only a month you know will last forever is something very special that iv'e only experienced when you meet people at their most free and open mindset.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have only just started the job so I can't say too much yet. But being manager an coordinating a team doing marine conservation, has been a dream for more than 10 years now and I am ready to grow with the task with an open and determined mindset. I want to learn a much as possible and take this incredible opportunity to push myself to being better every day.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

As I said, I am still new to the job so haven't had any personal interns with stories to tell yet. But having been an intern myself I can say that many of my fellow students from the time, are now doing amazing things. Many found great jobs in conservation and some in beautiful places in the world.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Well Raja Ampat has been on my list ever since I first learned of it's existence so I consider myself pretty lucky for being able to go there long term! Out of Nusa Penida, Bira and Raja Ampat that will be my first choice to work. However, I was originally supposed to go to Bira as an intern since I have a soft spot for sharks, but covid decided to send me to Penida, which I will be forever grateful for. It is a magical Island that I only have good things to say about.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes Indo ocean project unique, in my opinion, are the people. The staff is made up of some of the most passionate, driven and badass people I have ever met. They are truly inspiring to work with and I think the interns are incredibly lucky to learn from such dedicated people giving them the best chance in the competitive world of marine science.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

After having a strong vision with your business, I think the team makes the company. If you have dedicated staff that compensate each others strengths and weaknesses as well as good communication in the group, you have a strong foundation for any company. In this line of work, I think it is more than just a job and that is important to acknowledge as a company.
