What is your favorite travel memory?
One of my favorite travel memories is the week I spent camping with my family at Playa Tambor. It was there that I learned to swim, splashing around with my siblings until I finally floated on my own. In the evenings, we sat together for a carne asada and toasting marshmallows by the fire, sharing stories, and there, I tasted my very first piña colada. That trip taught me how the smallest moments can become the ones we treasure forever.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
I truly believe I have grown so much—learning from my colleagues and from students of all ages. Hearing their stories about why they chose to learn Spanish, and the sacrifices they made to embark on this new experience, reminded me of something I always knew but rarely paused to reflect on: life is short, and every moment deserves to be cherished.
What is the best story you've heard from a return student?
The best story I’ve heard from a return student was when she told me that during her first time at Tico Lingo, she avoided going to the gym—even though it was part of her usual routine—because she felt intimidated by the Spanish needed for membership enrollment and everyday exercises. On her second visit, however, she came determined to build enough Spanish skills and self-confidence to go on her own. Not only did she successfully join the gym, but she also ended up making friends with some local “gym bros” who became her workout partners.
If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?
If I could go on any program that the company offers, I would definitely choose the immersion program with a homestay. Living directly within a local household is the most authentic way to connect with both the language and the culture. It goes beyond classroom learning—it allows me to experience how people express themselves in everyday situations, from casual conversations to cultural traditions. This kind of environment helps me understand not only the words themselves, but also the meaning behind gestures, routines, and values that shape the community.
What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?
I’m proud of our team’s ability to adapt to fast-changing environments and welcome students from diverse backgrounds, all united by the same goal: learning Spanish. We understand that language learning is not a linear process—it comes with ups and downs. From the professors’ perspective, recognizing those challenges while still seeing each student’s progress is what makes the Tico Lingo team truly special.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
At Tico Lingo, we treat every student with respect—as human beings who bring their own personal reasons for wanting to improve their Spanish. Each student lives a different life, yet they all share the courage to invest in knowledge. We recognize the importance of that investment, and we honor the trust they place in us. By building strong partnerships with families and giving back to the community, we create something greater together. That spirit of respect, trust, and shared effort is what makes us truly special!
