A supportive and fun learning experience.

The class is very helpful. We meet every day Monday-Friday. We are two students and the teacher in the class. The teacher is very enthusiastic and energetic. Her energy is very contagious. We laugh a lot during class and this helps a lot with the learning. The fact that we meet so frequently helps solidify the lessons into our heads and keep us track.

The community we have built is very supportive and patient. I never feel like my mistakes are a bad thing, and instead I see them as moments of learning. I have been able to learn a lot from my classmate and teacher beyond what the book we use contains.

What was your funniest moment?
It is hard to tell. We have had many moments where we laugh a lot. Every day there are at least one or two big laughs. This being said we are also very serious about learning. I believe this is the best way to study a language.
Pros
  • The teacher is very enthusiastic and energetic
  • The meeting times are very frequent.
Cons
  • The book we use feels incomplete. I wish it were more thorough.

So cool

I went to that school for 5 months, and I found it exceptional. I’ve met so many people, new friends. The teacher I had was perfect, we were working on specific subjects, and every time we needed something, there was someone to help us! Now I can have a conversation in chinses without worrying about being misunderstood. If you’re looking for a relaxed course, it’s the right place; the school is located in a good area. There are a lot of things to do around, places, restaurants, bars, clubs, and the subway station is not far at all!

My review

My daughter, who is 13 years old, enrolled in an elementary Chinese language course with Global Village Language School, Beijing, China. While the course was very advantegous in financial terms, course quality was superb. In the course, a relatively small group (5-10 people, most of them in their 20's) could enjoy, and profit of, the enthusiastic teaching of a lady teacher, who was keen on teaching pronunciation, vocab, structure, and, last but not least, the Chinese characters. She also always found extra time to deal with my daughter and whoever else among the students was ready to dedicate extra effort to her or his Chinese studies. The language school also organized - and that, on a regular basis - in-class and in-city cultural activities like cooking Chinese food, city walks, etc., in this way successfully building a community out of an originally haphazard group of students. The front desk staff is really caring; and the bottom line is that if we can come to Beijing again, we would definitely choose the same language school. Most sincerely recommended!

Flexible and Affordable: My Chinese Lessons at Global Village

I am a doctoral student from Japan. From 2023 to 2025, I took Chinese lessons at Global Village for two years. To be honest, the main reason I chose this school was the price. I was looking for an affordable option near Tsinghua University and happened to find it. Before my study abroad program began, I took online lessons, and after arriving in China, I attended in-person classes. Whether in a group or one-on-one, lessons were scheduled with students’ availability in mind. I really appreciated how flexible they were. There were also occasional extracurricular activities, and it was possible to take intensive lessons during the summer and winter breaks. I would recommend this school to those who find university Chinese classes unsatisfactory or who want to study while working.

Intermediate Spoken Chinese Improvement Course

The Intermediate Spoken Chinese course is a unique and valuable learning experience, especially for those looking to build real-world speaking skills. It goes beyond textbook learning by focusing on natural conversation and cultural context, helping students speak more confidently and authentically in everyday situations. The lessons are practical, engaging, and rooted in real-life scenarios, which makes the learning feel relevant and immediately useful.

One of the highlights of the course is the teacher, who brings both expertise and a supportive teaching style to every class. The small class size allows for more one-on-one engagement, giving each student plenty of opportunities to speak, ask questions, and receive personalized feedback. The teacher creates a comfortable environment where making mistakes is seen as a natural and important part of the learning process.

Classes are interactive and varied, with a good mix of structured content and open conversation practice. The consistent feedback and encouragement help build confidence over time, while the cultural insights woven into each lesson make the experience even richer. Overall, it’s a well-rounded and immersive course that truly helps students take their spoken Chinese to the next level.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Future learners—immerse yourself fully. Speak as much as possible, even if you make mistakes—that's how you improve. Review vocabulary regularly, and try to use new words in real conversations. Don’t be shy; active participation is key. Pair up with classmates for extra practice, and take advantage of any additional resources. Stay consistent, be patient with yourself, and you’ll see steady progress in fluency and confidence.
