Had a great time doing this course! It was well organised and carried out and there was great support for us as well. If there was anything we were struggling with, our tutor Donall helped us understand it more clearly and was very patient. It was a fun experience from start to finish and we always had a laugh no matter what subject we were covering. Great course and a great way to meet people and make new friends from all over the world. I had been wanting to do this course for a few years and I’m glad I finally did it. Id languages is a great place to help you achieve your TEFL dreams! 😊

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was terrified of doing the teaching online but once the first day was over I couldn’t wait to do the next class! Practice makes perfect! 😊

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with ID Languages, I was so happy to engage in some learning during Covid and this course was just the right thing to keep my mind occupied at a precarious time. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who has been thinking about it, now is defintely the time. I met some lovely people and we all helped and supported each other during our studies. The tutors at ID have a wealth of knowledge, experience and are very approachable. The course is varied and interactive. Thanks again Arantxa, Donall & all the team at ID Languages!

I had a wonderful time doing my TEFL course with ID languages. The staff were very welcoming, delivering both a relaxing and engaging atmosphere throughout my 2 weeks with them. I was able to land a teaching job in Spain just 2 weeks after completing the course. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to teach English abroad. Also, living on the other side of Ireland meant finding accommodation in Bundoran for 2 weeks, ID languages were very helpful in this regard and were able to book accommodation on my behalf.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Teaching for the first time in front of the other students was most likely the most nerve-racking of the course for me.

The course was very well organised and the timetable and schedule were well presented and given in advance. The teaching was of a very high standard. The teachers were all very positive and professional. They really knew their stuff! There was plenty of time to talk one-to-one with the teachers if needed and support was always available. As for the course content, it was very thorough and covered all aspects of teaching from teaching difficult grammar content to dealing with unruly teenagers! The qualification was of a high standard and fully accredited and recognised by all relevant employers. Furthermore, the support provided after the course was very good too as there were opportunities to chat to former students as well as help to find work. You never felt like you left alone during or after the course. So if you are looking to improve and develop your life, there is not better time to take up this fantastic course online.

What would you improve about this program?
There really is very little to improve as the course was so well structured and delivered that nothing was found wanting. Just make sure you have good web connection so you don't miss out on anything! The best thing I found was the positive attitude of the teachers as well as constructive criticism which helped you to be the best you could be. Also the prompt replies from teachers made you feel that you were an important student and not just a number. So I thoroughly recommend this course again!

I completed a 4 week TEFL course through ID Languages in early 2019. I really can't recommend it highly enough!
The course tutor was absolutely excellent, highly knowledgeable and extremely supportive. I was very impressed with the level of detail in the course material and the fact that actual teaching practice was integrated into the learning experience was just invaluable!
The overall atmosphere at ID Languages is one of positivity and encouragement and all the staff team do their very best to ensure each individual's learning needs are met. By the end of the course ,I felt truly prepared and confident in my ability to teach my first class and this course provided immediate new employment opportunities for me - very impressive after a 4 week course! I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a career change.

Arantxa López Martínez

Job Title
Director
Arantxa grew up in Vitoria, the capital of the Basque Country, Spain. Her city has been Green Capital and Food Capital of Europe and so maybe that is why she has inherited a love for eco-friendly (she lived in a solar-powered van for a year) and for food from all over the world.

She studied Education and Language Teaching in Madrid, while working in a theatre company, then moved to Ireland and worked as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools. Arantxa is also qualified in CLIL & Bilingualism and she has a C2 English Proficiency Certificate, as well as a TEFL certificate which allowed her to travel the world for several months.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Life in Costa Rica: surfing in hot water in the sunshine, looking at the jungle and working from my laptop at dark, listening to tropical rhythms and drinking lovely fruit juices. Teaching online while on the beach in Playa Huerta, Panama and dancing salsa, Pacific music and Andes music in Cali, Colombia. In short, working remotely while enjoying the most beautiful places, eating the most gorgeous foods and meeting some very kind people.

I also really enjoyed learning about language differences in Spanish, from one country to another. The accents, the expressions... A world of richness and amusing misunderstandings. Oh. And Teatro Farnese in Parma, Italia. The beauty.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I co-founded ID Languages in 2014 with my brother and business partner, Mikel. Until then, I had worked in hospitality, education, film, and theatre, but I knew nothing about business, team management or tax duty. Working in ID Languages has given me a broader view of the world and its economy, it has allowed me to meet some very inspiring entrepreneurs, to be part of networks that gather people from every corner, with endless expertise that are completely different to mine, to learn from mistakes and to be less afraid to make them

It has made me eager to progress and to grow, to work as part of a team, to be part of a community, to explore the potential that a company has (which still seems unlimited).

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

There are so many. I enjoy following their adventures as they live them (most of them send us photos or tag us on their posts on social media) and I love it when students come to visit us when they come back.

We have had visits from US graduates who came to see our team and the host families they stayed with. One of our graduates (from the US, now teaching English in the Czech Republic) came during his midterm break and told us hilarious stories about the children he works with.

One of our Irish graduates is teaching in Barbados but calls in for tea every time she is home...

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose our TEFL course & internship program (which I actually did a while back).

I was a qualified Spanish teacher and doing the TEFL course doubled my employment opportunities and gave me an insight into so many other countries and markets interested in learning English as a foreign language. It also allowed me to travel the world while teaching online (the demand for online Spanish teaching is nowhere near the demand for online English teaching).

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Our team makes our company unique. I was especially proud of our team when I went away for 5 months and I came back to a healthy company that had grown and was alive and kicking. We were able to stay in touch to discuss our weekly tasks, while I took time away to develop my acting career (my other passion) filming, doing theatre and playing music abroad.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

The people. Our team and the professional development of each one of us is the biggest factor that allows us to grow as a successful company. We look after our students together and we enjoy improving our courses by upgrading our training on a regular basis and by taking our graduates' feedback into account.
