Project Esperanza

Why choose Project Esperanza?

With Project Esperanza, compassionate individuals are able to contribute meaningfully to the project's grassroots schools and work with the local children to develop and nurture their English skills, creativity, confidence, and social skills. Volunteers work intimately with the Haitian refugee community in Munoz, Puerto Plata, on sustainable community development, social aid, and education projects. The Haitian community in Munoz face the struggles of poverty, discrimination, and legal obstacles to education and employment. The work of volunteers, more than developing positive intercultural relationships, lends a much needed helping hand in the Haitian community of Puerto Plata.
