BIPOC Support

Salisa Language School accepts TEFL trainees and students from any country or region in the world. The main criteria for anyone participating in our course is that the English language is spoken and understood very well. Separately a rule promoted by the authorities in Thailand is that graduated TEFL teachers seeking work there hold a Bachelor-Degree in any field. If TEFL graduate is a non-native English speaker (NNES) they must pass a TOEIC test before being accepted into a position as a TEFL teacher at a Thai school. TEFL graduates from NES countries (Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland) are highly sought after and no TOEIC test is required. The Bachelor-Degree, supported by TEFL graduation will, in the main, assist POC and NNES in obtaining TEFL teaching positions in Thailand.

LGBTQIA+ Support

All participants of the Salisa Language School are treated equally.

Neurodivergent Support

Salisa Language School will do its best to support all applicants to the best of its abilities. We work individually with those considering a TEFL course to determine if it is a good fit for them.

Impact

Sustainability

Salisa Language School (SLS) provides developmental opportunities for trainees to engage in a new career, find employment, often in a country other than their own and improve lives of others through teaching, in the main, the English language.
SLS promotes known employment opportunities to graduates aimed at improving the lives including others which includes remote poorer communities particularly in its host country.
Management of SLS has engaged in direct investments into sustainable well-being of institutions supporting "children in need" in homes across Thailand.

Ethical Impact

Salisa Language School provides a TEFL program which will enable graduates to then participate in living and working in Thailand. We support and encourage participants to consider the core concepts of respect, freedom, loyalty, merit, pride, compassion, harmony and sanuk in Thai culture which are engaged in the "land of smiles'.

An American in Thailand

I’m an American currently living in Thailand. I took the course in November of 2023. I found it to be very intense but also very rewarding at the end. The instructor was knowledgeable given his rich experience in the field. There was also practical experience provided in an actual classroom setting with 30 kids! That was very helpful and encouraging for me that I could actually do this. I’m happy that I chose the Salisa Language Center for my TEFL education. I feel like I received a lot of value for my money.

Must do for those who want to teach English

I did the TEFL course in September 2023. It was quite intense, a lot of useful information. The trainer Cillian is the best person for this role who could not only follow the syllabus but also add lots of constructive criticism and shared his rich experience. Especially when we talked about bad behavior of the students he could show a lot of examples from his practice and it was priceless. I was slightly confused why we had school practice very soon after the course started, but later I understood that it was good not only to learn everything and then practice, but also reflect on our practice later, when we had something specific to illustrate and to discuss during the following lessons.
I wish I had done this course before I actually had my first school job (7 years ago), it would have helped me a lot.
What surprised me most was that tests were open questioned. I was expecting multiple choice but I had to write all that I have in my head. I think it’s quite fair and need to stay like this to keep the level of the teachers high.
Thank you all the team for your welcoming and warm attitude to every student and readiness to help at any part of the day!

Pros
  • Structured
  • Friendly
  • Professional
Cons
  • Duration (wish it would be longer)
  • More different groups to practice on
  • More methodologies to teach the language

TEFL course

I am a former secondary teacher but had not taught English before and I wanted to learn to teach English. It was a good course with a nice balance of class time and practicum. I was especially pleased to be able to practice teach in an actual school environment with the actual time constraints of a normal educational environment. The teacher was knowledgeable and the school anticipated and provided everything I needed to be successful. The methodology that I learned was easy to use in many situations.

TEFL

I completed the 120-hour TEFL Course with Salisa Language School.
Before graduation, I received a teaching job offer from an established Thai school. Thanks to Paul's mentoring.
The course is well designed by our trainer Cilian, who delivered it professionally; be prepared for the intensive lessons, full schedule and expectation. Cilian's constructive criticism drove us to next level.
The course ascertained our English pronunciation; two of us were non-native English speakers. I am now confident to speak out/ present in public and at my school. We did well in TOEIC test; supported by preparation of Mardeth.
With friendly trainers, resources and strong support staff (Mam and Nongluk); I highly recommended this course for those seeking a teaching job in Thailand.

Pros
  • Excellence; a practical workshop quality
  • Adult learning experience; make it happen!
  • Enjoyed and had fun

TEFL 120 hour course

I completed the 1 month TEFL course at Salisa and it was a great experience! Teachers were of high quality and very helpful. My teaching has improved from doing the course and I highly recommend anyone to join if you want to teach to a high standard. The course is in depth and there are many opportunities to teach to real classes and schools which makes this course worthwhile. My favourite part of the course was teaching at Srisuvit school, as it gave me a real insight into how to manage a Thai classroom. Thanks to Cillian, Paul and Mam for providing a great experience.

Pros
  • Real class teaching
  • Staff very nice
  • In depth course
