My son has just turned four, but I would love to teach English in Japan and I so intend to have him attend a Japanese school. Would this pose a problem for me?

All children in Japan are able to enroll in public schools, starting from elementary school at age 6. Registering for a public school is a simple process that you would be able to do at your local public office. For children younger than 6, Japan has both kindergartens and pre-schools, but those options will vary widely by placement.
If you are selected and placed on the JET Program, you should talk to your contracting organization about education options for your child.
