Can I bring a relative?
Posted by Raylyn Gilbert 8 years 10 months ago
I am a guardian for my cousin while her parents are working overseas, (Dad is in the Army, and Mom is not in the picture). Would I still be able to bring her with me If I were to do this program?

Thank you the question Raylan!
While many JET participants do bring their children or spouses with them, they must first acquire a dependent visa for each family member accompanying them. Since yours is a unique situation, I cannot say for sure whether you would be able to get a dependent visa for your cousin in this case. I would suggest contacting your local Japanese Consulate's visa section (http://www.us.emb-japan.go.jp/jicc/consulate-guide.html) to ask about the possibility of acquiring a dependent visa for your cousin.
