Do you need to have any previous knowledge of the language?

Hi I would like to know if this is a language school for experienced linguists or if I would be able to attend as I have no experience in the Japanese language but am very interested in it.

KCP (strongly) encourages you to learn the beginning 2 syllabaries, hiragana & katakana, before you attend, but they have a Level One class for beginners. They still go over hiragana & katakana in Level One, but it's only for the first few days, so either you study it ahead of time or you do lots of memorization that first week. If you're curious, the textbook we used when I attended (last year, 2015) was Minna no Nihongo.
No matter what school/class you take, a beginning course is always going to make you learn hiragana & katakana first, so it's just a good idea to get them out of the way anyway!
