Casco Antiguo - 5 stars

Friendly, professional lessons well-pitched to your level. importantly, they are challenging and you WILL see progress.

The teachers were able to diagnose the areas of my Spanish that needed work and tailored the lessons accordingly.

Super culture in the school with a commitment to events and learning beyond the classroom. These include sports, cycle rides, dancing and Happy Hour chats.

The loation is brillinat. You can step outside straight into bars and restaurants and start practising immediately :)

Highly recommended :)

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Spanish sensation!

We had a fantastic experience at Casco Spanish school. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They made us feel welcome and answered any and all of our stupid questions whilst helping us practice our spanish. They also organized activities outside of school hours which was fun and a great chance to get to know the other students. Our teacher Rogelio was fantastic. He made the classes informative, fun and practical. He used a number of different methods to engage our learning and I feel that my Spanish improved ten-fold under his tutelage. Would recommend!

Loved every second!

My friend and I did a few lessons here to top up our Spanish skills after doing a week in a school in Guatemala and I preferred our time here! We ended up extending our lessons because we were learning so much

Rogelio was absolutely incredible. So fun but also so helpful and smart. But all the staff seemed so lovely. They offer extra activities as well if you wanted to get more involved which I love at any school

Loved our time at this school! Would recommend to anyone! Definitely worth doing whether you’re a beginner or helping along

Recommended!

My boyfriend and I took our first Spanish lessons at this school. Even though their advice was to both take private lessons (for the same price), we were allowed to take lessons together (our preference). We learned a lot in one week, but could have stayed much longer. Of course you cannot learn Spanish in one week, but for us it was a good way to start with the language and have a good base. We can now grow from there with our travels the next months. We also loved the extra activities that they offer like salsa lessons and bike tour. Mucho gracias Hector!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
We would definitely stay longer the next time, to continue learning.

Perfect way to improve

I stayed in Panama for almost a month and studied at Casco Antiguo Spanish School for 3 weeks, which was a great experience.
Samuel was an amazing teacher who helped me improve on my Spanish thanks to themed conversations, outings in the old town, practical exercices and more. I saw improvements on my way to communicate in Spanish pretty quickly.
The rest of the team was always very helpful too when it came to visit recommendations in the city, things to do in Panama, in addition to cultural information that were very interesting.

The private online tutoring was a great format for a working professional. They were able to customize the material to my needs and interests. The teacher consistently made sure I was getting the most out of the lessons and helped me use real-world examples that I could directly apply to my work. I highly recommend this program!

Pros
  • Experienced teacher
  • Interesting learning material

Super engaging and fun language course!

If you're looking for a really engaging way to learn Spanish and build confidence in it, Casco Antiguo Spanish School is amazing for that! The staff is super helpful and fun and their Spanish teachers create engaging classes that keep you from ever getting bored. I moved to Panama with only a year of Spanish under my belt, and these last two weeks with Samuel (mi professor) actually made me feel I could one day be fluent. I took the small class intensive that was four hours a day. They use an immersive way of teaching (basically only Spanish is spoken when they teach) and use lots of games, topics, outings to help you build your understanding of the language. 11/10 - Loved the class so much! Highly recommend it!

Pros
  • built confidence in Spanish
  • learned more about Panama
  • super fun and engaging classes
Cons
  • wish I could take more

Interactive and personalised Spanish lessons

Such a good experience, the staff are lovely and you get such personal care and attention. My instructor Erick made the lessons fit the needs of both of us in my group, there was an interactive activity each day and the learning material provided is super useful. These are also learning materials that you can continue using after you finish your course, which I really appreciate! Also a good way to get to know Casco Viejo and Panamanian culture as we visited different museums and attractions in the area. Very happy with the school!

Pros
  • Personalised lessons
  • Daily activities in Casco Viejo
  • Useful learning material

Casco Antiguo Spanish School Panama

The small class size and mix of activities really helped my learning and gave me a boost to keep going. We got in some great conversations and my teacher was very cognizant of modifying a challenging activity where necessary. I
learned some useful subjunctive tips and reinforced examples of paragraph transitions in Spanish. I learned about Panama and its people which is something new to me and a lot of other students, I'm pretty sure. The after-class activities, such as happy hour and volleyball, are also great. I would definitely return!

Pros
  • Small class
  • Safe area of the city
  • Modern activities for learning

More than just Spanish classes!

I would highly recommend Casco Antiguo Spanish School in Panamá city.

When finding a language school, it was highly important for me to have a cultural immersion through the school besides "just" learning Spanish.

Casco Antiguo offers exactly this: activities everyday to learn about Central-/Latin-America and Panamá (i.e. city tour on bikes with a local teacher from Panamá or Salsa classes); a location in the heart of the city center where you can immerse yourself in the history and contemporary Panamá (presidential palace is for instance 10 minutes by foot); and volunteering opportunities for those who stay longer in Panamá.

I learned Spanish five years ago in Spain while working as an AuPair, so I already had a foundation, but after learning Portuguese and other languages in the meantime, my spoken Spanish was very poor. I took the small group intensive classes for three weeks and two days and could feel my Spanish improve with every day passing! The classes are small to maximize learning and speaking opportunities, in my case we were just two students. I had classes with Hector and Ana, who have both been great professors. They used games and personalized the classes to topics we were interested in to make them short-lived and fun. Besides the classes, the school was extremely helpful and good at communication. Whatever concern, you can email them and you get a super fast reply, the communication and booking went super smooth. They also provided me with a language certificate which I needed for a scholarship without any problems and were flexible with scheduling.

I really felt like the teachers and administration (Tricia, David, and Eddalia) really cared about the students, gave recommendations what to do outside the classroom and really made my Panamá experience awesome. Casco Antiguo became like a second home to me during my time abroad. Thank you Hector, Ana, Tricia, David, Eddalia, and all other professors for being so open-minded, competent and welcoming!
