Great friendly team

Very friendly staff, excellent teaching, builds confidence early. Good atmosphere with activities after class. Silka was my instructor and was very good at engaging the class and encouraging early speaking which is essential. Part of the class involved entering the community to practice speaking and how to interact with locals.

The school was very helpful to anyone new to the area and gave really helpful advice on how to make the most of time in Panama. Fully recommend it to anyone wishing to learn or improve their Spanish.

For me the perfect school

The school was absolutely great. I enrolled very spontaneously and received individual lessons because no-one was at the same level. I was able to make up the paid lessons on the other days of the week because of public holidays. Everyone is incredibly friendly. There are free activities in the evenings (salsa, biking...), which were also great. Sandra, my teacher, was perfect! I learnt so much in the two weeks. We often practised outside and she was incredibly nice and welcoming. Thank you so much! I would absolutely recommend the school!

What was your funniest moment?
Us laughing about the aircon spitting ice.

Irish women learning Spanish

A lovely school in a good location. Friendly staff and good teaching. A very enjoyable week. Some afternoon activities but the rain prevented us from doing the cycle. We had 2 different teachers and this worked very well. Ismael, the receptionist and activity organizer was particularly friendly and helpful. Muchas gracias. I would suggest that organizing a guided walk of the city on the first day would be very useful. This includes a little of the history of Panama and show the students important services like ATMs supermarkets and good restaurants.

Outstanding Spanish classes in Panama City

Outstanding small group intensive Spanish class. The Instructor was very experienced, and the learning exercises encompassed a lot of speaking and listening with only 2-3 students per Instructor, mini video stories where we chose the correct verb tenses to explain what we saw, written exercises, trips to nearby stores and museums, games, as well as speaking to other language teachers. The after-school activities also gave me the opportunity to meet other students and teachers, learn more about Casco Viejo, and practice more Spanish speaking. Casco Viejo offers excellent sightseeing and restaurants, and was a great starting location for our Panama vacation. After this class, we traveled to other parts of Panama, and my communication was greatly improved.

What was your funniest moment?
I loved the mini videos and trying to figure out the correct past tense to use to describe the scenario.
Pros
  • Great teachers and administrators
  • Most interesting location in Panama city
  • More speaking in such small classes

I wish I had stayed longer!

My experience at Casco Antiguo was really amazing. I took a small group class for only 4 days and felt that my Spanish improved exponentially, so much so that I am inspired to continue my lessons virtually now.

I loved that at the beginning and at the end of each class we had 30 min of just conversing in Spanish, which gave us the opportunity to use what we had learned in previous lessons. The lessons are well thought through for different learning styles. We used a lesson book, some audio activities, some games and some computer activities.

The extra-curricular activities were a bonus - we had a blast at the salsa class and got quite a workout! ;)

Silka, our instructor, was patient and organized. She made the class a lot of fun. She is definitely the reason I feel that I learned so much.

Ismael, at the front desk, always greeted us with a huge smile and patiently allowed us to practice our newly learned Spanish by asking all the questions about where to go and what to do in Panama City. Tenemos preguntas... El tiene respuestas!

Truly a wonderful experience all around!

Fantastic interactive Spanish lessons

My husband, best friend and I spent a week taking Spanish lessons at Casco Antinguo Spanish school in Casco Viejo. It was a great experience. The classes were small (2-3 students to 1 teacher), interactive and a lot of fun! Our teachers (Silka and Slilma) were patient and helpful. The in and out of class activities were fun and helped us reinforce our Spanish! We played games to reinforce vocab, went to museums to interact in Spanish and did fun activities like salsa lessons. Ismael at the front desk was super helpful with all kinds of things like restaurants, tours, things to do (and not do)! We loved our time at the school so much we plan to continue with on line classes going forward.

A great learning experience !

We learned Spanish here during a month with my mom. We both took the private lessons to be able to make progress quickly and it worked wonderfully ! Not only the teachers and all the staff are incredibly friendly and will make you feel at home, but also the quality of the lessons are great. The teachers are encouraging and make the students learn in a fun way (inside and outside of the school) which really helped us engage and learn more effectively during our lessons. Thanks again to our wonderful teachers and to the staff, can't wait to be back !

Excellent and enjoyable spanish course and homestay

I was in Casco Antiguo for 2 weeks of morning group classes (Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm). I arranged a homestay through the school, with a wonderful lady named Ana Gloria. The whole experience was great. I was able to practice Spanish every day at home, Ana Gloria took me to the supermarket over the weekend and also introduced me to Spanish TV and food, and had some local recommendations about Panama. The homestay was also located in a safe part of Panama City and very comfortable. The Spanish lessons in Casco Antiguo were really enjoyable and I had so much fun during them. I had 2 other people in my class. It was an intermediate class with different levels but the teacher (Massiel) handled this well and kept everyone engaged. We did a few trips out into Casco Viejo to different museums as part of the lessons and learned a lot about Panama through this. We also played a lot of games in order to strengthen grammar concepts. We covered all the different pretérito tenses over the two weeks and also practiced a lot of conversations. Overall, it was a wonderful experience! I developed a huge confidence in speaking Spanish (ended up having quite extensive conversations for the rest of the holiday. I would hugely recommend this to everyone, especially the homestay!
