Highly recommend Casco Antiguo Spanish School

I had the pleasure of learning Spanish for eight weeks at the Casco Antiguo Spanish School. My Spanish improved tremendously and I am able to communicate more effectively. I learned a lot about the culture, customs and history of Panama. Classes included touring around Casco Viego and learning about the old city. The lecturer Samuel I. Campuzano did an excellent job. The lessons were interesting, fun and very informative. I highly recommend this school to everyone who wants to learn Spanish in Panama.

Casco exceeded my already high expectations

I had high expectations because I already had been taking online classes with a Casco teacher, but the school was everything I was looking for and more. I loved the small class sizes, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, even though our brains were working so hard.
I had three weeks of classes, with three different teachers who all had their own style but shared the characteristics of being talented, committed, energetic, and friendly.
Overall, I would classify myself as an intermediate level student and came to the school with a friend who is more of a beginner but with a strong background in other romance languages. Casco was perfect for both of us. So, I think Casco Antiguo Spanish School has a lot to offer a student at any level.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
The Casco school is located in a charming historical area that is very walkable. Everyone knows the school, and many are happy to help you practice your Spanish. Take advantage of this; it will enrich your experience. Because we were there for three weeks, stayed in an apartment with kitchen and laundry facilities that was a 7 minute walk from the school.

enjoy

Everyone at school very warm, friendly. A great place to learn Spanish. Classes are small plenty of instructor time. My instructor (Silka) was very patient even when I kept messing up the indefinido tenses. Highly recommend Casco Antiguo school. Remember learning a new language is a long process the more you learn the more you don't know. But they gave me all the essentials to continue my progress. enjoy the location and atmosphere . The school's recommendations etc. And for sure take the bike ride

Great Learning Experience at Casco Antigua Spanish School

We had an absolute blast learning Spanish at Casco Antiguo Spanish School! On our first day, we were welcomed by Ismael, the receptionist, and his infectious smile that set the mood for the rest of our two weeks at the school. David, the owner, was always reachable, to lend his perspective on life in Panama. The admin and the teachers were consistently friendly; Lina and Sandra did a great job catering to our learning levels and abilities. We also appreciated the extra curricular activities that helped us connect to other students- Salsa class with Jazmine, a bicycle ride adventure with a full history of the city by Ismael and a fun happy hour outing with some of the teachers; these certainly helped seal some good friendships. Thank you all at Casco Antigua Spanish School for a great Spanish learning experience!

What was your funniest moment?
We bonded with the teachers, admin and students. On our last day, while we were walking around town, we just bumped into a bunch of them at a cafe; it felt like seeing old friends! Such warmth!
Pros
  • Catered to each student's learning needs, no matter their level.
  • Provided extra curricular activities to create a bond between students, as well as between students, admin & teachers
  • Provided a safe place to ask questions and get answers on academic and non academic issues.

Amazing experience

Spent a week with Casco, the location is amazing and the teaching was really good. Very good activities as well which made the expereince really immersive! I particularly had a lot of difficulty with talking and some aspects of B1 and the week with Casco really helped me get my spanish to teh start of B2. I think what also really helps is that alot of the resources they provide are very interactive, i.e. videos and exercises to work together with other people in the group, rather than just drilling through grammar!

Must do if you want to learn Spanish

My experience here was amazing. I took 4 hours of private lessons 5 days a week and the lessons never were boring and were always engaging, teaching certain lessons through stories and history. Up front, my teacher (Ana) asked me what types of things I wanted to focus on, which I appreciated, and we practiced all aspects of language learning (listening, talking, reading, writing). There was some homework each night but nothing that prevented me from enjoying the rest of the day. We also went to museums a few of the days as part of the classes. I will definitely be back

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would stay longer!
Pros
  • The teacher was flexible and willing to structure the classes around my specific needs.
  • The classes were immersive in the sense that you also were able to experience lessons outside of the classroom through museums, etc.
  • They were easy to work with leading up to the experience.

Absolute Must

Having attended Casco Antiguo Spanish School, for a four week intensive beginners class, I now find myself with a firm foundation from which to continue my Spanish journey here in Panamá. A combination of class size, conducive learning environment, and the professionalism and skill of all the staff resulted in an interactive and successful programme. Afterschool leisure activities further facilitate language practice and socialisation. Highly recommend the school! Without a doubt I will be back for more classes in the not so distant future!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Get stuck in! Whether in a group or one to one lessons you will benefit yourself with a solid base in understanding Spanish. Make sure to join activities and practice whatever you know when you can.
Pros
  • Interactive Environment
  • Social

Great Experience, Highly Recommend!

I spent a wonderful week at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. They made it both educational and fun, including daily "field" trips to visit a local museum or market and encourage us to use our Spanish to ask questions of the local people.
Our teacher was excellent, and the classes are small (just 2 in mine). It's in a beautiful neighborhood and felt very safe.
I've been to four Spanish schools, and while this place isn't fancy, it's the best "bang for the buck" that I've experienced. Highly recommend!
