Since studying in Australia my life has changed! I learned so much abroad. Australians know how to live! They enjoy their lives with minimal to no stress.
TEAN is the best program out there. They take care of their students in all there needs. Emails and call are responded to quickly. All my worries and question while submitting my application were taken seriously and respectfully.
Once studying abroad TEAN offers so many excursions to get in touch with Australian culture. The staff are true Australians and some are younger Americans who previously studied abroad with TEAN. All in all stories and advice were exchanged through the two.
TEAN allows you to fully integrate into the city and teaches you how to do so with the Sydney orientation. It was so helpful learning how to get around and if you ever had any questions TEAN staff was just a text or call away. TEAN also allows you to get full access to campus societies and events! Take advantage of this privilege and meet locals.
All in all, TEAN is the best program out there. They offer more options than any other program I looked at! TEAN honestly allows you to have the best experience of your life while abroad.
Studying at JCU was the best decision I have ever made. Townsville is a laid back city with beautiful beaches close to campus, which was perfect for me. Living on campus in George Roberts Hall made my experience so special because I really got to indulge in the culture and make some really amazing Australian friends that I still stay in touch with.
I met other Americans at JCU who did not go through any program to study abroad and they definitely did not have as great of an experience as me. TEAN was super helpful in every step of the process and were always there to answer any questions I had while abroad. My TEAN advisor, Alyssa, who was a grad student at JCU was always just a text message or email away to help me with anything I needed. TEAN took all the stress out of the study abroad experience so I could fully enjoy it without worry.
If I could restart my semester abroad I wouldn't change a thing. (Except maybe extending my stay!) TEAN truly made my time at James Cook University unforgettable!
I never knew one decision could change my life so much. Choosing to study abroad in Gold Coast at Griffith University with The Education Abroad Network not only changed my outlook on my country but how I saw myself and my future. I was able to learn how other countries view the United States and experience not only Australian culture but learn the history of the country too. I was able to travel to multiple cities thanks to TEAN and always felt like I had a friendly face in case of need thanks to my city advisor. If you are considering going abroad, do it. You will be amazed just how much a few months can change your outlook!
Going to New Zealand was the best life choice I have ever made. The Education Abroad Network is definitely the best program to go with - they were truly amazing. The staff is wonderful as well; they truly care about their student's abroad experience, no matter where they go. I would use TEAN again if I went abroad. The pre-semester trip to Fiji with TEAN was absolutely amazing. That was one of my favorite experiences. In terms of New Zealand, I loved it. It's such an amazing country. It's beautiful, safe, and easy to travel around. I now have so many memories that will remain with me forever. I met really spectacular people in my travels. Dunedin was such a fun city to study in; I can't wait to go back someday.
What would you improve about this program?
The Education Abroad Network is perfect! No improvements needed.
From beginning to end, The Education Abroad Network was a fantastic program. I was impressed in the beginning on steps they took to answer my question and preparing us for our time abroad. The orientation in Fiji is an experience I wouldn't trade for the world. Lack of technology and distractions, Fiji offered the cultural experience of a lifetime. My favorites include the cultural dance performed for us and a hike to the local village.
When arriving in New Zealand, I felt so set to take on this city from the fist night eating tapas downtown. We had the opportunity as a program to explore the city and take time with friends. It was so relaxing and being able to spend my first week with people who I met in Fiji making it extremely comfortable and fun.
After getting settled in Auckland I realized how lucky I was. I had brand new housing with an American student from a different program looking to travel and locals. I felt like I had a balance where I met people who wanted to travel as well as locals to teach me all about kiwi culture.
I was able to accomplish so much while I was there. I learned a lot for great professors, I felt like I had made lifelong friends, and I felt like I had an amazing support system along the way with TEAN. I would not go back and do it any other way. I wholeheartedly suggest you choose TEAN if choosing to go abroad because there is honestly no other program that will give you all that they can!
Studying abroad with The Educational Abroad Network was one of the best choices I have made. Whether the most important thing to you is safety, cost, fun, one-on-one availability, or an overall experience, TEAN can help make your experience one to remember. Studying abroad in Australia was the first time I left the country. It was scary, but the Education Abroad Network was there every step of the way holding my hand. They were there for me during the whole semester which let me really live abroad and do the things that were important to me like climbing Mount Warning, visiting the Great Barrier reef, and getting to know the culture. There will be great times studying abroad, and there will be scary times, but TEAN is a great provider to have with you through the process.
The five months I spent living in Thailand were the most amazing, action packed months of my life! I wouldn't trade it for the world. From helping me get my visa to booking me a hotel for a lengthy layover The Education Abroad staff had my back before I even touched down in Chiang Mai. We were given all (if not more) of the immersion usually only found in direct exchange programs on top of included excursions and on site directors who were always there when we needed them-- but had absolute independence when we didn't. I got to experience the awe inspiring Yi Peng lantern festival, feed Asian elephants, and explore Thailand's captivating southern islands. But if someone was to ask me what was hands down my favorite part of this experience-- I would have to say my roommate. TEAN matches each of their students with a local roommate which really shaped my time abroad. She honestly became my sister, my best friend. She and her family were always having me over to their home and would frequently take me out to dinner or to festivals. She introduced me to her friends and helped me experience the real Chaing Mai. One of my favorite memories was driving up to the top of Mt. Doi Suthep with her and standing there mouth agape as we looked over the whole city, lit up like stars that night. Integrating into the Thai community can be difficult, but The Education Abroad Network made it easy; I made Thai friends that I know I will have for life.
Take Me Back to the Most Beautiful Place in the World

My abroad experience will absolutely have a lasting impact on my life. Choosing to study abroad in New Zealand with The Education Abroad Network (TEAN) was one of the best decisions of my life. The staff is incredibly helpful and supportive; they made the transition into kiwi life a breeze. I always heard that New Zealand had the reputation of being the extreme sports capital of the world, and that was intimidating. After spending 5 and a half months in this amazing country, I can honestly say that New Zealanders live up to this rep. From the laid-back outgoing people to the endless opportunities for adventure, New Zealand knows how to go extreme. TEAN prepared us from the beginning by pushing us right into this aspect of kiwi culture. We went zorbing down a massive hill and had an intense trip white water rafting. TEAN's preparation inspired me to keep the thrill alive. Following my orientation, I spent the next months hiking, bungee jumping, paragliding, and much more. I explored all that Wellington and New Zealand had to offer. If you want to explore the world and adventure through some of the most beautiful places, New Zealand is the destination for you! If you want a staff that is supportive 100% of the time, TEAN is the program for you!! Thank you TEAN for giving me a trip I will never forget.
What would you improve about this program?
I cannot honestly think of a more perfect trip. TEAN did an amazing job prepping us for our time abroad. With a relaxing getaway to Fiji and an informative orientation in Auckland, TEAN helped me immerse myself into kiwi culture. I only wish I could have stayed in NZ forever.
After having a rough time deciding where I wanted to study, I finally decided on going to the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. It could not have been a better decision for me. Without a doubt it was the best semester of college thus far.
The city of Dunedin is great in and of itself. It is a college-town and thus is built perfectly for the college lifestyle. There is an endless array of museums, exploring the nearby parks and trails, or having fun downtown in the social scene. Although the city is large, it is extremely walkable. Furthermore, it is located right next to a harbor so if you want to sail or have fresh fish these can be easily found.
How they house students is a lot of fun. You have the opportunity to cook for yourself and live with around five other students. In addition, the other houses nearby become like family as well. The only downside to the housing is that there is little insulation and it becomes quite cold in the fall and winter. However, you learn to be best friends with your sleeping bag and everything is fine.
The university itself is phenomenal. There is an endless array of clubs and organizations you can join while there. There is no way you can be bored. In addition, the classes I had the chance to take were great. I would recommend taking a Maori class while there. When else will you have a chance to learn about the Maori people of New Zealand?
Lastly, the adventures that await you in the South Island are beyond comparison. You can visit the beach and then hike up a mountain into the snow in the same day if you really want to. Multi-day hikes in the wildnerness without cell-phone service, internet, or access to roads is the norm. Get ready to meet an array of adventurous, kind-hearted people from around the world! If you are a person who loves the outdoors, than Dunedin, New Zealand is the perfect place for you!
What would you improve about this program?
Choosing classes, suggestions about how hard the classes would be in comparison to American classes and suggestions about what classes students had enjoyed in the past would be helpful.
Possibly having a few more options for things the TEAN group in Dunedin could do as a group.
Offering rides to get to the airport when leaving the country at the end of the semester.
Living in the Gold Coast was amazing. TEAN put us in a suburb called Broadbeach which was in an extremely convenient location. The Gold Coast has so much to do: kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, shopping, surfing, hiking through rain forests, rock climbing, music festivals, an incredible bar scene, restaurants, endless amounts of markets, a new beach to explore each day, and so much more. With so much activity nearby, it was easy to meet locals and integrate yourself in the culture.
I studied at Griffith University which was amazing. It was an easy bus ride from the apartment TEAN placed me in. It was a beautiful campus with interesting classes and helpful professors.
I learned so much about a new culture, went on endless amounts of adventures, met so many amazing new people, and saw some of the most beautiful places in the world. I loved the Gold Coast and studying abroad through TEAN. They were extremely helpful, before, during, and after my study abroad experience.
