Unforgettable Experience

Spending my summer teaching at Educo Italia was truly one of the best experiences of my life. Each day was filled with fun and learning, and I gained so many valuable skills and lessons that I’ll carry with me for life. The children were also extremely interested in learning, which made teaching them even more rewarding. Another amazing part of teaching here was all of the people I met, the close community made it very difficult to say goodbye. I enjoyed my time so much that I didn’t want to return home. It was an unforgettable experience I’d recommend to anyone!

Amazing experience

Working with Educo was an incredible experience! I loved meeting amazing people and learning a completely new, interactive way of teaching. Their games- and songs-based approach made lessons so fun for the kids, and it was rewarding to watch them grow more confident in English while having a great time.

What really stood out to me was the energy and creativity that filled every day. No two lessons were ever the same, and I was encouraged to bring my own personality and ideas into the classroom. You also get a TEFL certification out of it which is such a plus! I left each day feeling supported by the team and students around me!

The Best Summer Ever!

A few months ago I did not expect to return home to Canada with such amazing memories of my Summer with Educo! I would 100% recommend Educo for anyone interested in exploring a career in teaching and seeing the beautiful country of Italy. It is such a unique and special experience to be welcomed with open arms by local families who are equally as eager to learn the english language as well as their children. From the materials provided to the leadership of the Educo orientation team to the friendships I made with other tutors, I felt very supported and prepared to teach at summer camps all over Italy. My confidence has grown tremendously and I can't wait to come back next Summer!

The very best way to spend your summer 🌞

I have loved the past two summers working for Educo and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique teaching opportunity in Italy. The camps are both fun and rewarding; it’s a beautiful thing to see kids being inspired to speak English through games and silliness. The orientation week prepares you for your role as a tutor and gives you the opportunity to learn from a fantastic team of mentors. Meeting a diverse range of people from across the globe is another huge benefit to Educo and I’ve made so many wonderful friends through this experience. On top of this, staying with a host family each week gives you a truly authentic Italian experience as you feel welcomed into the culture and community. If you’re looking for an enriching way to spend your summer, I would 100% encourage you to apply for Educo!

A life-changing experience

EDUCO is an amazing program for tutors and students. After earning a TEFL certification in Florence, Italy, I fell in love with Italy. I applied to many programs throughout Italy, and was accepted to different ones. I chose EDUCO and I am so glad I did: I have no regrets. It was truly the best decision. I cannot say enough positive things about EDUCO! Helping students have fun and enjoy learning English through drama is incredibly rewarding. I have made lifelong friendships and connections with tutors, host families, and locals. Living with host families allowed me to be a part of and experience beautiful Italian culture that I would not have had an opportunity to experience in other ways. It allowed me to feel connected with local people and with the culture.

EDUCO fostered my love for learning and teaching. It provided me with numerous opportunities to meet new people and make new connections. With my passion for Italian culture, longing to travel and experience the world, joy of teaching English (TEFL), and background in acting, it is truly the perfect program. It has strengthened my path during my gap years and aided me in becoming a confident, well-rounded person who is ready to go forward and achieve all of my other aspirations in life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you are presented with an opportunity to experience EDUCO, embrace it! Be present with all of the moments and experiences throughout the program. It will change your life in the best of ways, but you are also contributing to life-changing experiences for others.

Best Teach Abroad Experience

I worked with Educo in the summer of 2024 and would 100% recommend this program to anyone wanting to travel to Italy and teach. The program is immersive and fun, and a great way to learn about a new culture by staying with local host families who treat you like their own. The trainers and management is responsive, friendly, and very approachable. I made some unforgettable connections, and memories for a lifetime. You get to travel to various cities and experience their schools and culture. Italians are very friendly, and you wouldn't feel like an outsider at all. You should be keen and open to new experiences, and flexible, if you want to have a great experience.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't be rigid. Be open to experiences and people, and you'll have fun!
Pros
  • Not stuck in one city
  • Friendly and loving people
  • Fun program. Emphasizes on performance and play
What other participants should know
  • Different schools = different experiences

Meaningful summer filled with many memories

I had a wonderful experience working with Educo. Although packed in schedule, the initial orientation was a great way to make new friends and receive training for the programme. Diving into the schools and homestay families was super exciting and it was very helpful to have experienced returnee-tutors guide the first few days at camp. Each camp lasted one to two weeks alongside changes in host families and/or privately arranged accommodation. The host families were the highlight of the experience as the stays allowed for full immersion into the Italian culture and unexpected, amazing adventures. From what I experienced and heard, many families and camp directors took immense care of the tutors and loved taking the opportunity to show their guest the beauties of Italy. I'm very grateful to still be in touch with the families I stayed with and the tutors I became friends with.
If you have an interest in education, Italian culture and/or want to try something new, I would recommend joining this programme!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would characterise the programme as very 'go with the flow' where you tend to discover things as time goes on without receiving all the information straight away. This is potentially due to the directors not wanting to overwhelm the tutors with information and figuring out the best placements for each tutor. In saying that, they are very open to questions and answer them quickly. If you find that you like to plan ahead and that is out of your comfort, it might be a factor to consider. Otherwise, it could make a good opportunity in becoming more comfortable with the unexpected.
Pros
  • The host families and experiencing Italian culture
  • Meeting tutors from all over the world
  • The students
What other participants should know
  • Back and fourth commutes between camps (dependent on placements)

Great Experience

Pretty incredible experience, to move week to week across the country, and live with Italian families. Granted, it’s hectic week to week moving from place to place, but that’s what I signed up for. You go from school to school, and family to family. Each week is different in what it offers, but it’s all quite amazing.

I have a positive opinion do educo. I met so many cool people through the program. I found the staff to be helpful and communicative. thoroughly enjoyed it and will be returning next year.

2024 Educo Summer

I had a wonderful summer working as a tutor for Educo. It’s clear Educo is a professional company who prides themselves on top quality tutors. A week long, in depth orientation was essential to learn the necessary skills to become a successful tutor.

Camp itself is incredible. A fully immersive experience where you live with a host family and learn about Italian culture and of course eat till you can’t anymore!

The children are immediately fascinated with you and it’s very special to share your culture with them. You also learn so much about your fellow tutors as there are people from all over the world.

I would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat. It’s a wonderful experience

One of the most fulfilling summers

I had a wonderful experience with Educo from start to finish. I met the most wonderfully global group who dedicated their time to help kids develop and grow.

Orientation for Educo was a fun week in Sanremo with a great mentoring team who worked all week to provide us with the skills necessary to teach others.

The homes and families I was placed in during my 5 weeks with Educo were some of the loveliest and friendliest. I got to travel, visit amazing places, eat fantastic food, and be a part of a new Italian family every 1-2 weeks.

And the kids in the camps. What a joy to work with and what an exciting way to spend a summer: running around, playing games, singing, dancing, and just acting an overall fool. And of course, to top it all off, seeing the joy and excitement in the kids’ faces as they chase you around or get confused at a certain way you say a word in English or just LOVE the fact that you like pineapple on your pizza. This makes it all worth it for me.

Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a more fantastic summer experience in Italy than what I experienced here with Educo.

I highly recommend being apart of this journey!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Some of the families I lived with in the Veneto area were big fans of horse meat, a local delicacy! I tried it and it’s not bad! Maybe won’t become my go to snack but still!
Pros
  • Excitement
  • Educating children
  • Sense of belonging
