Incredible Summer in Lisbon With SageCorps

My summer abroad with SageCorps was incredible. During my 8 weeks in Lisbon, I gained incredible, hands-on work experience at my start-up, made friends I will know and cherish for life, and created many unforgettable new memories. SageCorps not only provides you with a worthwhile experience that allows for both professional and personal growth, but it also sets you up for success ahead of time. The access to LinkedIn Learning provided ahead of time, their resume workshops, and interview prep meetings helped me get the internship of my dreams, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Emma in Paris

I had a wonderful experience this past summer as a marketing intern at Paradigme Mode in Paris, France. The internship gave me a unique experience to work abroad and get professional experience I can talk about when interviewing for a full-time position. I enjoyed taking the metro to work every day and wandering around on my hour lunch break every day. Before and after my internship, I was able to travel around Europe and be immersed in new cultures! Sage Corps made everything easy and enjoyable. I felt supported by them, and if I needed anything, I knew I could get help.

Intern in Sydney, Australia

I interned at a startup in the summer of 2024 with SageCorps. They were invaluable throughout the process, from building my resume to ensuring my safety in my host city. I could not imagine doing this if I did it without them! I had so much fun exploring the culture and at my job. I was able to gain so much knowledge from my city managers who led me on weekend activities, gave me local tips/recommendations, and made sure I stayed safe. My startup was extremely welcoming and I learned a ton from being with them.

Summer in Sydney

Sage Corps is unique in the managing aspect, while I think obtaining an internship abroad, there are serval factors that are not accounted for that Sage Corps handled such as visa, resume building, interview skills, housing, activities to do in the city, and safety while in the country. For this global experience I was able to continue recognizing my passion for traveling and exploring other cultures abroad. Sage Corps was the difference in my stress level between feeling prepared and overwhelmed.

What was your funniest moment?
Getting on the wrong train and ending up in a different part of the city.
Pros
  • Staff in Sydney helped to show us all the cool things to see
  • Amazing food
  • Lots of Great people
Cons
  • Housing cost not worth it for the location
  • Roommate information was shared only 2 weeks prior to leaving

Intern Abroad Madrid

Sage Corps provided an excellent abroad experience. They made sure that you were paired up with a startup internship that best correlated to your skills and wants and kept in touch through the process to make sure you were getting the most you could out of it. Sage Corps also hosted numerous activities for the entire cohort to do, like dinners, walking tours, cooking classes, etc. This allowed you to create and maintain lasting friendships with other people your age in the same cohort! I also did not have work on the weekends, so I recommend traveling every weekend you can!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
You will never regret traveling abroad, and you get to obtain an internship experience out of it as well. It seems scary at first but once you're there, I promise you will never want to leave. Try all of the food and travel as much as you can!

Safe and firm internships

A standout aspect of my Sage Corps internship experience was the comprehensive safety protocols and insurance that were put in place. These measures became especially valuable when I got into a bicycle accident during the program. The insurance coverage provided through Sage Corps helped cover most of the medical expenses. Furthermore, the program's detailed safety guide offered practical advice and precautions, ensuring that participants were well-prepared for any unexpected situations. This combination of proactive safety measures and robust insurance made the entire internship experience not only rewarding but also secure. It reflected Sage Corps' strong commitment to the well-being of its participants, offering both support and peace of mind in an international environment.

An Amazing Summer in Amsterdam

From beginning to end, my time in Amsterdam was amazing! The program did a great job at making sure that myself and everyone else in the program felt welcomed and a part of the city and culture. The city managers were super helpful and nice -- the kind of people you'd love to have drinks with. Any worries I had about moving to a different country and culture were quickly wiped as I started to meet new people, explore the city, and, of course, begin working. My experience working at a Startup was amazing! Not only did I develop my skills and build up my resume, but I also felt like I was truly making an impact at work. This experience still effects me now, and gives my the confidence to know that I can tackle any challenge I face. If you're on the fence, or even thinking about joining the program, this is your sign!

Sage Corps: Dublin Cohort

I was one of those students who didn't hear about Sage Corps until fairly late in the application process. The idea of going abroad was exciting, and within a few weeks I committed to join the Dublin cohort for summer 2023. I interned at a tech startup company called GreyScout, and the small staff of 12 people allowed me to make strong connections with everyone in the company. The fast-paced startup environment kept every day interesting- there was always something new to do, and my work had a tangible impact on the success of the company. I made my 20-minute walk to the office each day excited to get to work, and the internship was a great addition to my resume. Outside of the internship, getting to live and travel with a group of other students from different universities was what truly made the experience unforgettable. Hanging out and exploring Dublin after work and taking weekend trips to other cities in Ireland are memories I'll cherish forever!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Explore not only the city, but other areas of the country/other countries as well! You'll have a lot of free time on weekends to make the most of your summer.
Pros
  • Startup company experience
  • Spending time abroad
  • Grouped with 20+ other students
Cons
  • Getting a work visa was somewhat of a hassle- get on that ASAP!
