About Program
The Asia-Pacific & Australia program is based in Byron Bay, a small, South Pacific beachside community south of Brisbane. From this base in Byron Bay, courses and field experiences engage students with the cultural, political, and ecological systems that make up the Australasian region. In Australia, students visit Aboriginal bush camps, national and marine parks, and rainforests. They interact with indigenous people, politicians, activists, and entrepreneurs. They engage with individuals and communities that aspire to overcome the legacies of the past through advocacy and enterprise.
The program also includes study travel to additional destina1tions in Asia. One of these will be the tropical island of Bali, Indonesia, predominantly in Ubud and rural areas in the north of the island. This unique and culturally rich island will provide a distinct perspective and point of comparison for the key global issues students are learning about.
