About Program
South Water Caye is home to IZE 's marine field station students, educators, and researchers come to perform field work as part of their study abroad experience. Nestled among the lush grounds covered in coconut palms, hibiscus, bougainvillea and carpets of morning glory, this unique facility houses a classroom with an extensive research library, video projectors, white boards and scientific research equipment.
In collaboration with Boston University and the National Science Foundation, IZE has also added new marine wet lab to its research arsenal. The lab consists of numerous recirculating salt water tanks, wet tables and microscopes. As IZE researchers, you have the opportunity to collect and study samples with professionally guided tours, sample collection methods, and so forth, to bring forth a well-rounded experience and support on going research.
