The cost of this program is €4,275, with a €100 early bird application discount; additional €400 discount for partner universities.

Tuition includes:

– Transportation for the weekend trips (Telč, Krakow/Auschwitz, Vienna, Budapest)

Students should budget an additional €400-1000 depending on their spending habits for food in Brno (breakfast, lunch, dinner), weekend trips (lunch and dinner) and fun "optional" activities in Brno, Vienna, and Budapest (the underground labyrinth in Brno, Budapest baths, bars, etc.)

About Program

Through a culturally-immersive learning framework, students in this course will explore how globalization (as process, practice, and system) intersects evolving conceptions of media, communication and culture as international phenomena.

Utilizing directed engagements with the Czech and Central European cultural context (visiting Krakow, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Brno, and Southern Moravia), students will explore the Local as a context for understanding the Global, considering how their own culture, media, and means for communication (language, technology, symbolism, etc.) frame and connect their knowledge and personal experience of the world to broader understandings of their identity and perspective in the world. The CzechMates program comprises coursework within a cluster of class options centered on holistically developing student competencies (personal and professional) related to critical thinking, international communication (broadly-defined) and intercultural collaboration.
This programme includes 3-day excursions Krakow/Auschwitz, Vienna, and Budapest. Moreover the first week of the programme takes place in Telč - a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Classes take place Monday-Thursday from 9:30-12:30. The site visits and learning outside the classroom occur in the afternoons and on Fridays. Culture/social activities will take place in the afternoons/nights.
Taught by Professor Elavsky, this course provides an in-depth overview of contemporary topics and subject matter that links students’ personal and professional identity to a broader understanding of global processes as they link to local, regional, national, and international concerns.
CzechMates program participants will take this course in association with Masaryk University students from a range of countries, capitalizing on the opportunity for a deeper engagement
The team of professional and local students provides the 24/7 assistance from the practical and safety arrangements to creating a rich cultural program helping the participants to understand better culture of Moravia and Central Europe in general.
