About Program

Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at University College Freiburg (UCF) is an English-taught 4-year BA/BSc program. It extends across academic fields and offers specialized discipline-oriented training in one of our four Majors:
(1) Culture and History
(2) Environmental and Sustainability Sciences
(3) Governance
(4) Life Sciences
Beyond the Major, the LAS in Freiburg includes a Core Program shared by all students and an Electives section that allow students to shape their specific academic profile.

LAS is a specific approach to Bachelor level education and offers an alternative to disciplinary study programs. It emphasizes a broad interdisciplinary education and provides for individualized academic concentrations on a high academic level. We understand LAS education as a process of intellectual discovery and personal development in an interdisciplinary and international learning community.
