- Italy
- Florence
About Program
Travel to three major Italian cities – Medieval Siena, Renaissance Florence, and Imperial Rome – and learn more about their urban scheme, art, and architecture within their historical, socio-economical, and religious context. This summer program will take you to specific monuments that represent the city's unique features for a deeper study of Italian art.
You’ll also take a trip to major laboratories and restoration sites to experience a closer approach towards major works of art under restoration through their restorers and conservators.
You’ll be able to visit the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence to see works by Fra Angelico (the Palla di San Marco), Raphael (Portrait of Pope Leo X), and Ghiberti (the Florentine Baptistry bronze doors), and the sculpture restoration laboratories of the Vatican Museum.
