Join People & Places as a volunteer in Cambodia. Cambodia's tumultuous political history has had a dramatic effect on its development and infrastructure. Participate in community development projects, health and business projects in Cambodia. All programs are a minimum of 4 weeks. Volunteers will live in a locally owned guest house and can participate in one of four programs available in the country.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work in one of two community centres set up to help families living in poverty in farming and fishing villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap. The focus of these centres is to create opportunity not dependency for local people, enabling them to provide for their families and live sustainable lives.
Healthcare support is difficult for this community to attain as it is both expensive and remote. People & Places volunteers will work with local community members to help establish a health program in these areas. Appropriately qualified volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in a program which takes healthcare to people living in the remote floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake.
Siem Reap is a town dependent on tourism and many businesses are established to take advantage of this. The volunteer program included support for businesses in areas such as marketing and financial planning.
