Based on the beautiful island of Nosy Be, projects range from wildlife and conservation to teaching and construction. All programs include arrival airport transfers, accommodation, meals, 24/7 local support, orientation, and Certificate of Completion. Popular Programs

Primary & Secondary Teaching

Help give an education to disadvanted children. You will teach conversational English in priimary or secondary schools, to children from nearby rural villages. The local teachers can also greatly benefit in talking with a fluent English speaker, as well as discovering new and up to date teaching methods and techniques from you.

Community Construction

Help construct, renovate, build, and decorate schools and community buildings. Use your enthusiasm and skills to help provide a better landscape and environment for the local community, using local resources.

Lemur Conservation

You will be involved in preparing food according to the diet chart, preparing the food involves chopping vegetables and fruits for the lemurs’ in the morning and assisting the local staff and vet with the health checks which take place once a month. You will also have the opportunity to assist the local staff in caring for other species such as tortoises, chameleons, and other species residing in the park.

Kindergarten Teaching

Teach children basic English in a creative and fun way! You'll be embraced by the local community and as you spend time with the children, you can help improve their life skills, get them to think creatively and teach English communication skills. This is a fun volunteering opportunity, based on a unique island.

The Madagascar trip was brilliant. At the school the children were really engaged learners. I found the most important thing on this trip was taking many more picture books. I hadn't done that enough on the other trips, so I made a bigger effort to this time, and it worked out well.

So after English spelling and sight words etc, we read a picture book each day. I read the page in English, then Gabriel, one of the workers, would explain the page in Malagasy/French. It was excellent being able to expose the students to the artwork (the pictures) in the books. They mostly do chalk board exercises for their lessons. In all the schools I have taught at now I have noticed the difficulty with imaginative tasks (creativity), and drawing. There is a really high number of students unsure/shocked when I say 'good sentence, now draw a picture to go with it'. So my idea with the picture books was to expose them to the art.
