Whale and Dolphin Conservation & Bird Watch in Guayaquil, Ecuador
- Ecuador
- Guayaquil
About Program
Largely due to its conspicuous nature, the bottlenose dolphin has experienced a population decline in recent years in the Gulf of Guayaquil due to the increase of human activities in the zone, including fisheries, maritime traffic, and pollution in all forms. This is why A Broader View is increasing its efforts in the area to help the species, and now is looking for volunteers to support the local team in this task.
Volunteers will help to take photographs of the dolphins for individual identification, take skin samples for genetics and collect data on the distribution and behavior of the several small dolphin communities the local teams have been studying for more than 20 years. This information helps with the creation of the best management strategies for bottlenose dolphin conservation.
