About Program

Elvira’s Garden Community Centre (EGCC) is a small community charity in Grenada running children and youth programmes, including after-school support and holiday camps. Volunteers join us to support learning, creativity and sport for children aged 3–15, and to help keep our centre running through practical, hands-on work. Typical support includes tutoring/literacy, arts & crafts, sports or music/dance sessions, plus behind-the-scenes help such as painting, gardening, repairs and general improvements. We have two sites across St George’s and St David’s, and you’ll experience real Grenadian community life while making a tangible difference. Stays are usually 2–12 weeks (most common 4 weeks) and we provide accommodation and meals. Your volunteer contribution helps cover rent, utilities, groceries and local operations so this centre can stay open for the children who rely on it.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Program Impact

Volunteers help keep our community centre open and consistent for children aged 3–15 in Coals Gap and surrounding areas. Your support strengthens literacy and numeracy practice, confidence and social skills through structured activities, and gives children a safe, positive space after school and during holiday camps. You’ll also improve the centre itself through practical projects (painting, gardening, repairs), leaving lasting upgrades that benefit the community long after you leave.
