About Program
Volunteer in Indonesia and contribute to fighting illegal wildlife trafficking. Located on the island of Sulawesi, this wildlife conservation volunteer placement is based at a centre set up to combat wildlife trafficking, and to provide rescued animals with a place for rehabilitation.
The island of Sulawesi is the closest of the Indonesian islands to the Philippines. Illegal traffickers smuggle animals from Java, Sumatra, and Borneo across to the Philippines, where they are then smuggled onwards. Orang-utans, sun bears, gibbons, and pangolins are some of the most endangered mammals smuggled out of the country, often to be kept as pets. Many of the animals are also at the mercy of poachers due to a thriving bushmeat trade.
Volunteer in Indonesia and experience one of the most ecologically diverse and stunning destinations, and gain insight into the realities of poaching and rescue, and the challenges the wildlife faces in Indonesia.
