One of the best things about volunteering with Hatua is the variety of work you can do. Hatua matches volunteers with organizations working within their field of interest. If your interests lie in education, library services or project management, you can volunteer in Kenya directly with Hatua.

Other volunteer opportunities through our partners in Likoni include teaching at a Primary school, assisting at an orphanage, doing public health outreach and coaching football.

Our volunteer program starts with a week-long orientation to introduce volunteers to Likoni, Mombasa, the Swahili language and Coastal culture. Volunteers stay at Pungu Villa, our volunteer house overlooking the Indian Ocean, or can choose to stay with a local family in Likoni.

Our Volunteer Coordinator ensures that our volunteers are healthy, comfortable and feel supported throughout their stay. We can also advise and help arrange any excursions that volunteers may wish to take during their down time.
