About Program

Chazon is a school for orphans, destitute and ex-street children. It is located in a purely cosmopolitan zone and frequent tribal clashes used to occur every now and then leading to family displacement and birth of refugees from neighboring areas. Many parents demised on tribal wars leaving their children orphans. Due to poverty and increased rural – urban migration in the area, there cropped up immoral behaviors that led to parents dying of HIV/AIDS. Most of the families in this area live in total abject poverty.
It is as a result of the above mentioned issues that the management decided, thirteen years ago, to start the institution. The school is currently catering for the orphaned, ex-street children, and others in need of great assistance.
Among these children were some who literally needed to be rescued as they were subject to sexual and other forms of abuse by relatives and sometimes hostile neighbors.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
