About Program

The Green Schools Project, initiated by Baboon Project Kenya, focuses on planting trees in primary schools, particularly in Nakuru County. We have identified 100 schools with the goal of planting 200 tree seedlings in each. Our mission extends beyond planting; we aim to monitor the growth of these trees.

By involving students in the project, we encourage them to adopt and care for their trees, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. This initiative not only enhances the beauty of the schools, providing a pleasant study atmosphere and shade, but also educates children on the significance of tree planting, climate change mitigation, and the vital role trees play in our ecosystem.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here. Learn more about how Baboon Project Kenya is promoting ethical volunteering.

Program Impact

Volunteering with the Green Schools Project offers a unique chance to contribute to tree planting initiatives in primary schools across Nakuru County, Kenya. We have identified 100 schools where we plan to plant 200 tree seedlings in each location. Our goal extends beyond planting; we aim to monitor the growth and care of these trees. By involving students in the process, we encourage them to adopt and nurture their own trees, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. This initiative not only enhances the beauty of the schools, providing a better learning atmosphere, but also educates children on the significance of tree planting, climate change mitigation, and the vital role trees play in our ecosystem.
