About Program

MRCI's Island Outreach Program is truly one of a kind. This immersive program is an amalgamation of the four other programs that we offer, marine conservation, english teaching, forest conservation and community development.

This program aims at furthering out reach and impact beyond Nosy Komba and Nosy Be. We do this by means of our Research and Conservation Vessel, The Spirit of Malala. By traveling to untouched and remote islands and villages volunteers are allowed the opportunity to experience a side of Madagascar unlike any other.

The Spirit of Malala is a 50ft boat and was named after Malala Yousafzai. This boat was built in support of this incredibly courageous young girl, who stood up for the rights of all young women to receive equal educational opportunities. Malala is the youngest person to receive a Nobel Prize and she continues to inspire and promote equal education for women globally.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.
