Northwild Veterinary and Wildlife Conservation Experience in South Africa
- South Africa
- Limpopo
About Program
This two-week program offers students hands-on experience working with an experienced wildlife veterinarian in their every day activities. You could be assisting with wildlife capture and relocation, disease/wound treatment and control, low-schedule drug preparation and administration or research data collection on a variety of African species such as zebras, giraffes, buffalos, rhinos, lions and leopards - no two days are ever the same!
Whilst living on the 18,000ha nature reserve we also provide the opportunity to learn what it takes to manage a reserve. You'll be taking part in activities such as joining our SAN Parks trained anti-poaching team collecting snares and learning first-hand about the problems facing African wildlife populations, collecting behavioural and identification data on elephants, monitoring research from bush-cameras and receiving dart rifle practice on the ground and from a helicopter; a key practice in the safe capture and relocation of wildlife.
