About Program

Travel to South Africa to learn, un-learn and re-learn alongside high school students in Makhanda in the heart of the Eastern Cape Province.

Support students on their academic journeys and work alongside local micro-entrepreneurs to build and enhance a social enterprise in a community brimming with entrepreneurial zeal and possibility. Learn from human rights activists working to build on the assets of the community, while immersing yourself in a rich, local culture that embodies the spirit of Ubuntu. Your trip will be filled with mornings of Xhosa language lessons, tours of Makhanda, book discussions and afternoons blooming with mentoring and teaching students while working on a project with community members. Inkululeko is a South African non-profit organization that believes in the transformative power of education, working with motivated, young people from socioeconomically marginalized backgrounds.
