About Program
Volunteer with turtles on this incredible conservation project where you will monitor turtle activity and help to safeguard eggs and nests found on Sri Lanka's stunning shores. Since it began in 1988, this project has been monumental in its efforts for turtle conservation and you can be part of the cause!
You will play a crucial role in maintaining this turtle sanctuary's hatchery where eggs have the chance to hatch safely, and if you're lucky, you could even get to help the baby turtles make their way to the sea! This is an important part of the project, as turtle survival rates are extremely low due to predators lurking by the sea and poachers who steal eggs for soup. What's more, as well as safeguarding eggs and caring for the resident turtles at the sanctuary, you will help to educate the local community about the importance of turtle conservation.
