About Program
Spend your gap year in India, exploring the Ladakh region nestled in the high hills of the Himalayas. The British Schools Exploring Society (BSES) has arranged for a truly unique experience, with self-reliant “fires” (groups of 10 – 12) exploring various morphological features of the mountainous area. Different fires will examine glaciology, geology, and ecology, so there is plenty to do and see in this region including the spectacular spread of rare wildlife, coexisting religions, and untouched scenery. Photographers will rejoice—one part of the project requires the retaking of older photographs to observe ecological changes over time.
Prior to embarking on this challenging course, mountaineers will travel through the bustling cities of Delhi and London, which provide a fascinating juxtaposition to the idyllic silence of the mountains. Don’t wait; have the adventure of your lifetime with BSES by spending your gap year in India!
