New Routes Internship Program

I was offered internship program by New Routes foundation for three months here in Kenya. I undertook the internship ready to learn. The experience was awesome as I learnt more than I expected.
The organization's routine had to start with early morning devotionals and then office work would follow later. The support from the staff was amazing, they are willing to teach you new activities and new skills. In office I learnt new accounting software's, expenditure and also budgeting skills, social media management and also basic analytical skills.
In field I visited the student beneficiaries and made videos with them and also had interviews with them about adaptation to new environments.
The working environments are cordial and friendly, there was so much respect and understanding from the colleagues.
Their accommodations are stunning with maximum security offered by their two wonderful dogs (Nala and Zuri). All the basic requirements for living were readily available.
It was an awesome adventure as the organization founders are from a different cultural background from me so each of us had something to learn from each other.
This is a wonderful experience for anyone in Kenya and abroad who is willing to learn practical life and employability skills and working in a friendly and a professional environment.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
This program is a unique program that you got to have and experience fun abroad in Kenya where there are high altitudes above sea level, exciting wildlife and see the big five, and also learn some of the African cultural practices and their food.
Apart from fun you got much more to learn and gain practical skills.
