About Program

Combining volunteering in schools with time spent on wildlife conservancies and expeditions to wilderness areas led by tourism professionals throughout, you will learn a huge amount about Africa in just 6/10 weeks.

If you are adventurous and active, want to learn about Africa within the safety of a hosted group, Simon and Annabelle Dugdale's AfricaGap is perfect for you.

Application is by zoom interview, and character references are required as part of the application.

You should be aged between 17 and 23 for our gap programmes, or 16 - 18 for our Africagap youth mini programme.

AfricaGap provides a unique, incredible programme. As someone who was keen to travel in Africa on my gap year, I was unsure where to go and honestly even where to start. But AfricaGap does the ‘hard stuff’ for you. Annabelle and Simon have created a programme, starting in either Zimbabwe or Kenya which allows you to see the all the best bits. Whether that is the elephants in Kenya, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the gorgeous Tanzanian coast, animal tracking, working in local schools and orphanages, climbing Mount Kenya and so much more. Words can’t really do it justice. The highlight for me was camping on the Turgwe River - chatting to my friends while the sun set, then sleeping under the stars. I couldn’t recommend it enough.
