Impact 🌎

Our conservation efforts focus on ethical monitoring techniques that minimise our impact on the environment and the wildlife that we are studying. Our focus is on sustainability, ensuring that our conservation techniques can be used long into the future without negative repercussions.

We have also partnered with Rhino Revolution because we believe that in order to have long term impact and success, it is vital to secure community engagement and provide key education to the communities that call this incredible country home. Rhino Revolution's education initiatives focus on providing critical education for communities through local educators which is highly effective as well as inspirational for the learners. The local educators also accompany the learners on excursions into wildlife areas that have always bordered their homes but to which they have never had access. Their focus is on creating and inspiring the conservationists of tomorrow.

Goliath Training and Rhino Revolution are fierce believers in transparency and at the end of each year our volunteers receive an update detailing exactly which projects their donations have contributed to, ensuring ethical use of the funds.

Very Personal Teaching

Vaughan's style of instructing is totally molded to the needs of his students, and he's personally invested in the results. I spent a number of weeks under his instruction and always found him to be approachable and eager to discuss the course content (or anything about the African bush). He prides himself on seeing his students leave his course with a comprehensive knowledge of the wild, and I am eager for the chance to learn more from him in the future.

Every day was filled to the brim with excitement and exploring, unless we were absolutely exhausted, which could happen given the heat and how much we walked. It was all completely worth the effort. There's nothing like learning in person and hands on with the wilderness.

What was your funniest moment?
For me, the most amusing part of the course was during a night drive. We decided to drive quite a long distance into the park after nightfall, and, eventually, we got to the point when we were all very tired from the long day of exploring. To keep from dosing off and missing the experience, we needed a good laugh and proceeded to carry on a long and absurd conversation about the dreadful chupacabra, doing our best to be spooky! We stopped in a big clearing, where we sat on the sand for a while and observed the sounds of the night and the starry sky, which was also a huge highlight for me.
Pros
  • Caters to your personal learning objectives.
  • Definitely gets you spending time in the wild.
  • Absolutely enjoyable environment, every day.
Cons
  • It's probably very hot outside.
  • It's definitely very hot outside.
  • Doesn't have a very rigidly structured schedule (sort of a pro and con).

Goliath Training

Joining Goliath training was one of the most unforgettable exciting adventures I have ever had. The housing was comfortable and well ventelated for the return on hot days , food absolutely fantastic and the people beyond plesant to be apart of. I have learned so much in the time I spent there and found new intrest in bugs and rocks. Absolutely love Goliath Training and I would for sure recomend them to any bush lover or guide wanting to sharpen their skills , or just to get out the house and get going in nature.

What was your funniest moment?
We went on a fairly heated walk , as I only packed 1.5L of water , although I felt like I was dying when we passed a few intresting stones I did not hesitate to pick them up and bring them along for the next 5k walk back to car , half way back an Austrailian Kieeran wanted to give my a fizzy tablet to regain energy bjt that seemed a bit hard to swallow without water , moral of the story remember your water on walks
