The most French city in North America, Québec is a ‘must see’ for any Francophile. This beautiful city is located along the banks of the Saint Lawrence River and is the capital of the Canadian province of Québec. Vieux Québec (Old Québec), the only fortified city on the continent north of Mexico whose walls are still intact, was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
Whether enjoying fine dining along the rue St. Jean, shopping at the Marché Vieux Port or strolling along the ramparts, students will be immersed in one of the most vibrant francophone cultures in the world.
Participants will study both French as a living language which differs in accent and vocabulary according to the region and country in which it is spoken, and francophone culture with a special emphasis on the role Québec has played in its history and development.
