About Program

At d'Overbroeck's, our specialist teachers help international students improve their spoken and written English and teach a full range of academic subjects, preparing students for academic success in the English education system.

The Two-Year IGCSE course covers a wide-range of subjects at an introductory level. It allows students aged 14+ with a lower level of English to develop their language skills across the curriculum, raises awareness about the range of subjects available whilst increasing their understanding of the British education system. The course design is influenced by the IB Middle Years programme.

For those continuing their education in the UK this course is also an ideal springboard to help them decide on your Sixth Form and University studies.

feeling after a year study in d'overbroecks

From my experience of studying at d'Overbroeck's International School, I think that d'Overbroeck's is a warm place to study. It does not give me any pressure to learn but instead, it provides me with a learning environment that enables me to enjoy learning. Apart from that, the school is equipped with comprehensive facilities and also there is great support from teachers. the school has "subject clinic" everyday aim to help students who has difficulty in their subject.
School also provide us with a variety of after school clubs and weekend trips to chose, such as trip to the old operating theatre in London, old Roman bath in Bath. also school provide us with many different after school clubs. such as gym club, scouts club and language club. I am now learning Spanish during language club at school. Other than that I am also learning Japanese.

Great experience

I joined this programme half of the way, while everyone else had already had a few months or half a year experience, I was still a new arrival. At first, I was terrified and didn't have any friends, the class system here is totally different from my country and I need to speak a non-mother tongue language all day. But my houseparent, Ella, help me out a lot, she took care of me and was there whenever I need to have someone to talk to. Gradually, I got used to the new environment and met some fantastic friends who I'd like to keep connect with for the rest of my life. I join school trips and clubs frequently and was never bored. More importantly, I finally found what I love, History, and with help from my two excellent history teacher I have built a strong confidence about learning history as my major in future.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When I first came to this school I was so terrified and knew no one. My houseparent, Ella, helped me a lot, so does my form tutor. They eventually dragged me out and developed my life.
