About Program

Year & Gap: Experience an off-the-beaten-path European destination by spending a year living with a host family and attending a local high school in Slovakia. From scenic byways winding through the northern mountains to the modernizing cities of Bratislava and Nitra, Slovakia has a lot to offer. Central to Slovakian lifestyle is an emphasis on village life and family, so you will have the opportunity to become close with your entire community by the end of the year. You'll find that modesty is an important value. Very self-confident behavior is considered to be arrogant, so you may find your Slavik friends will rarely accept a compliment. You will probably enter either the 3rd or 4th form of Gymnasium depending on your previous courses. Slovak language, History and Physical training are required, and you can choose between Math, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Programming, and Geography.
