Price depends on length of stay - the longer you stay, the less you pay. This fee includes all food, in-country transportation, housing, ample opportunities for professional development, as well as personal adventure including quarterly retreats in areas around Ecuador. There are scholarships available - please inquire!

About Program

Embark on a unique internship serving Indigenous Kichwa communities in the Amazon Rainforest, where you'll delve into core roles including developing health and wellness programs, managing operations, raising global awareness, and building vital relationships with local communities. Responsibilities include maintaining and innovating community development programs, fostering partnerships, and collaborating with peers and leaders to amplify program impact.

You will learn how to grow programming with statistics backed research, manage cross-cultural relationships, learn Spanish and Kichwa, learn how to advocate and improve public health in rural communities, and have ample hands-on professional experience. This opportunity not only supports indigenous communities but also will equip interns with essential skills in program development, organizational management, and international awareness. We are a very small organization and we strive to work directly with our volunteers to give them individualized support. All participants on site have one-on-one support from our onsite staff as well as a Program Director who serves as a peer mentor. In addition to offering individualized attention, we are also able to be flexible to use our vast network to offer even more individualized support and professional networks and connections.

We're onsite in the Amazon Rainforest working with communities that are directly impacted economically and physically by global climate change. We explore programming that will help keep the Amazon Rainforest the necessary ecosystem that it is as well as sustainable programming that encourages a stewardship with nature.

An example of water sources in the area

Interested in Water, Health, and Sanitation? Join us in a nascent project that aims to get potable and sustainable water into the community to relieve water-borne illnesses that create disruptions in work and learning. Interns in WASH will work on finding sustainable sources and the engineering behind it to work towards a community with less water scarcity.

Thinking about becoming a doctor or wanting to get a degree in Public Health or do you want to test the waters and see if it's for you? This is your chance! Our interns have the opportunity to shadow doctors to see how rural, indigenous communities support and care for their community. Interns will also oversee health initiatives like nutrition workshops, reproductive health workshops, protein campaigns, and more!
