Internship in Toulon

I completed a placement with language connexion from September 2022 - April 2023. I worked as an English language teaching assistant at a school in Toulon. I really couldn’t recommend it enough. I made friends for life and improved my French so much. Language Connexion gave helpful training and were there to offer support (by way of a mentor). By working with language connexion I was able to meet other English interns which made the experience much more enjoyable as I had people to talk to who were also in the same boat! I lived with two other Language Connexion interns and I was able to organise this as Language Connexion helpfully set up a Facebook group with all the interns in, so we were able to connect virtually before meeting in France. I highly recommend doing an internship with language connexion!

Internship at Language Connexion

As part of my year abroad I spent 6 months as an office intern at the LC base in Paris. As someone incredibly passionate about teaching, the opportunity to teach around the city was incredible, and I felt I was incredibly prepared with training beforehand. The training was a great way to learn about the french school system and to figure out which style or approach I needed to prepare based on different age groups or class style. My level of French improved significantly thanks to the immersion in the office environment, and the tasks I got to complete as the commercial assistant helped to develop many skills such as communication, adaptability and organisational. I cannot emphasise how helpful and supportive the staff at LC were, especially as a student living so far away from home, the guidance in all aspects inside and outside of work really made it an unforgettable experience. I would recommend the company to anyone looking to enhance their teaching skills and develop their language proficiency.

Year Abroad Internship

As part of my degree, I had the opportunity to complete a 6 month long internship with Language Connexion. This internship included bureaucratic tasks as well as additional teaching placements, which allowed me to develop valuable employment skills in various different fields. Over the six months I noticed improvement in both my personal and work life. Living abroad brought many new challenges but the support from the company helped me to overcome these and enjoy every moment. I am fortunate to have gained this experience and couldn’t recommend it more!

HR Internship

My internship in Paris was my favourite part of my year abroad! Language Connexion were so welcoming and all staff members so supportive in any way they could be (visa process, french language queries, housing, life in paris). Throughout my 6 month internship I learned invaluable workplace skills but also learned more about myself and became more confident. My French improved massively by using it every day in the office, when teaching on placement and during the French lessons. Would fully recommend Language Connexion for a year abroad internship, you won’t regret it!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
As my internship was HR based, I would frequently carry out interviews for English teachers (in English) but when it came to interviewing in French it made me nervous as I didn’t feel ready but when I did I was very proud of my self.
Pros
  • The welcoming environment
  • Ability to improve my french skills daily
  • Made lifelong friends who also did the internship
Cons
  • Office was under renovation at the time
  • Sometimes the commute to the office (from where I lived) took ages

They really did go above and beyond to make sure that I was happy during my time there.
