About Program

At Ceningan Divers, we provide aspiring marine biologists, conservationists, and scientists with the chance to gain hands-on field experience while working alongside like-minded individuals. Our Divemaster and Research Assistant Programme combines professional dive training with real-world conservation work, allowing you to actively contribute to marine research and monitoring projects in the stunning Nusa Penida Marine Park while completing your Divemaster internship.

Unlike traditional Divemaster courses, this programme integrates practical conservation efforts, including coral reef restoration, seagrass surveys, and mangrove planting, giving you essential field experience in marine science. You’ll dive with manta rays and mola mola, explore some of Indonesia’s most diverse reef ecosystems, and train alongside passionate conservationists and researchers, gaining skills highly sought after in the diving and conservation industries.

Program Highlights

  • Gain professional-level dive training while exploring the Nusa Penida marine protected area, diving with manta rays, turtles, sharks, and molas all on pristine tropical reefs
  • Master the identification of Indo-Pacific fish, coral, invertebrates, and megafauna. Learn how to perform underwater surveys, and apply ecological monitoring techniques as part of coral reef restoration, seagrass surveys, and mangrove planting activities
  • Gain field experience essential for research, conservation, or working in the dive industry. Use ImageJ, Agisoft Metashape, R, and EventMeasure to monitor coral growth, use photogrammetry to build 3D models of coral reefs and analyse data
  • Contribute to international conservation through scientific communication initiatives and citizen science programmes, including working with CTC (The Coral Triangle Centre), CoralWatch, PADI AWARE, and Reef Check
  • No prior diving or marine biology experience required. We offer training for people who have never dived before and our experienced team and comprehensive workshops will teach you everything you need to know
