Why did you decide to study abroad with API in Florence, Italy?
Ani: As an International Business major, my curriculum required some time abroad. Italian has always been a beautiful language that I wished I could speak, and when I entered into college I chose to take Italian language classes. When it came time to go abroad, I picked Italy to further my language development. I chose Florence, Italy with API because of the price and what was included for that price (housing, excursions, etc).
What made your study abroad experience unique and special?
Ani: My time abroad was unique and special because of the amazing trips I was able to take and the great friends I made while abroad. I got to explore a new country and make it my home. I was able to immerse myself into a culture, with the guidance of API, and make my own choices as to how I would develop my experience. I chose my classes, my trips, my daily decisions...I altered the program to make it my own. API was flexible and helpful.
How has this experience impacted your future?
Ani: This experience has provided me something that most others don't have - a knowledge of what it is like to live in a country unlike your homeland. I have been able to live and thrive in Europe. I now have the confidence in my ability to succeed and the knowledge to take something I know little about and make the best of it.
Professionally, I have a great viewpoint as a former study abroad student on international business and international affairs. Academically, I have credits from an Italian University, and a great resume booster. My study abroad time has definitely affected my future because it changed me, for the better.
