What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favorite travel memories is my trip to the United States, organized by American Councils for teachers working with the National Security Language Initiative for Youth program. It was a fantastic experience filled with collaboration and cultural exchange alongside colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Taiwan, and Morocco.

We worked hard but truly enjoyed our time together, visiting American universities and meeting both former and future program students. Washington, D.C. welcomed us with beautiful autumn weather, and later we attended one of the world’s largest educational fairs in Philadelphia.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Over the past 15 years at Learn Russian in the EU, I have developed significantly as both a professional and an individual. Teaching Russian to students from around the world has enriched my experience, while working with diverse learners has boosted my confidence and adaptability. I have honed my organizational and communication skills, gained expertise in program management, and collaborating closely with colleagues has enhanced my teamwork and expanded my understanding of education.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I remember a student who spent a semester with us and came back the next year, brimming with enthusiasm. Not only did he improve his language abilities, but the program also provided him with a chance to forge lasting friendships. He also got involved in a local community initiative—demonstrating the profound impact language learning can have on enriching experiences and creating unforeseen possibilities.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

If I could choose one of the Russian language programs offered, I would select the Russian Language, Literature and Culture program. This program not only focuses on language acquisition but also enriches the learning experience through cultural and historical exploration. It would provide a deeper connection to the language and the people who speak it.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes Learn Russian in the EU truly unique is its geographical location and rich historical background. Students who come to Daugavpils immerse themselves in a multilingual community, offering excellent opportunities to practice Russian in everyday life. They also experience a multi-confessional society and gain valuable insights into the city’s and region’s turbulent and fascinating history.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe the key to a company’s success lies in its vision: knowing clearly what it stands for and understanding its mission.

At Learn Russian in the EU, our mission is to provide high-quality language training in a safe and supportive environment. Equally important is our dedicated staff—a strong team of professionals working together to achieve this mission. Finally, our student-centered approach to teaching ensures every learner’s needs are prioritized, making our programs both effective and meaningful.
